The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good evening folks... I'm beat. Bread and bagels are done, and half the garden mulch is spread. There's got to be a better way.... Bought a pickup truck load. Moved it to the gator by hand (only got half as that's all the pile would hold by the garden). Dumped it as close to the garden as the gator can get. Then 5 gal buckets to move it into the garden. There's got to be a better way. I also need to learn a LOT more about tractors, I don't have one yet. The Ag guy says at minimum I need a compact 50 hp 4x4 and a 6x6 would be better. That said, my lawn guy was able to bush hog my logging trails with a 20 hp 2x4, but I think that kid grew up on a tractor. I don't even know how to turn one on. Well, the 50 hp 4x4 is still way outside my budget and I hate to spend the kind of money a tractor costs on something that won't get the job done... But I need something to eliminate this hand work, bush hog the property and not kill me. I also need a box blade and need to fix some erosion issues. What I know about farming can likely fill a thimble. I'm really missing my old job where I could pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it.
That sounds like a ton of work! Can you at least use a wheelbarrow instead of 5 gal buckets?

You did work hard today. I remember spreading a lot of bark at our old place to cover all the winter mud and it was hard work.

You sound like us. Making it up as we go along. We refer to ourselves as Jafa farmers (Jafa is a slang term in NZ - short for 'Just Another F***ing Aucklander') Ex Aucklanders now (and never happier).

Sorry Bob! :hugs

Our CEO and most of his Executive leadership team are donating their entire paychecks to that fund to keep it viable.
Unlike when one of the Sr Vice Presidents did town halls at the manufacturing plants after the people working the 12 shifts lost that 10% premium. Someone in the audience asked about it and his response was "if you don't like it you can go work at a grocery store". If I wasn't 3 years from retirement eligibility I would have gone up, slapped him the face with my badge and quit right there (and no I wasn't working on the mfg line, regular 5 day office job). 10% of his salary would pay the full salary of 10 of the line workers.
