The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning everyone!
Happy Mothers' Day to all of the moms out there.
The cats didn't even notice that it's a special day. Figures.

Snow in the forecast today. :he

I'm heading down to Caroline today to pick up the camper (2 hrs away). The people I'm getting it from already converted one into a coop, so hopefully I'll get some good ideas.
morning fd :frow
be safe

Hey everyone - sorry I haven't been on for a few days. DH got back and we had a few projects we wanted to get done.

Our ducks are so adorable. We've started giving them baths and they are hilarious in the water. I've got some cute photos to share.

And we can't forget the tiny tiddlers.

Today our government decides whether we reduce restrictions. It's been slightly less restrictive for the last 2 weeks but there are epidemiologists and microbiologists here saying we really do need longer at this stage to make sure the measures that were put in place did work. At the moment the few cases we are getting through (around 1-2 a day) are the reflection of the stringent lockdown period, whereas, when the level eased slightly a whole lot of 'bright sparks' decided to have big parties etc. I've just read this morning that the likes of South Korea and Germany, which had eased restrictions, are now seeing a marked increase in cases. So it will be interesting to see what gets decided.

Anyway, hope all you lovely mothers out there had lovely Mothers Days.

we did debby, son ate three salads and about 6 or 8 ham pinwheels (about the size of a large biscuit with cheese sauce over them) been a while since i've made them

Those ham pinwheels sound delicious! Would you share the recipe? I've never thought to have cheese sauce with something like that (and I love cheese sauce so any excuse is a good one in my book).

Jae, how fun to see your ducklings taking a swim! It always surprises me how fast they seem to grow.

l 1/2 Tbs mustard
cut shortening into dry ingredients and add milk
mix to form soft dough
roll dough l/4"thick

add butter and mustard to ground ham
spread ham mixture on rolled dough
roll up dough and ham mixture in jelly roll fashion and cut
approximately 1" thick
bake 400* degrees for 15 minutes or until slightly brown
( they will come out soft not crisp)
cheese sauce

2 Tbs butter
2 Tbs flour

Thank you. I've printed it out and I will add that to my stack of recipes. They sound delicious and I bet home grown ham makes them even better. DH would like to have some pigs but they are expensive to buy here, even as piglets, even the cross bred ones. I'd like a pair of Berkshires so we can eat the offspring, and sell extras.

we only have 5 acres here so we decided to try the kune-kunes mostly because husband wanted something to play with and we ran across a pair of young ones , they're not suppose to root. the one we butchered, he did and husband likes his pasture to look nice and neat so he had to go and we had planned on butchering him anyway so now we have a little meat in the freezer
