We definitely had them in north FL. The best thing we could find that worked was boiling water with Dawn detergent mixed in (that made them move away from the house and chicken coop) or a product called Amdro (I think) that DH used to get at the hardware store.

husband buys our stuff at tractor supply, its a commercial ant killer and they keep it toward the back of the store not with ant killer, sometimes you have to ask someone thats been there for a few years

Very likely not 'sweet', but for sure protein/fat, and the ants were hungry.

I found when you treated their mound, they would just move over a few feet.

I am putting it up against the D'uccle run, and the back is the old Turkey run. I got started today, I have one corner left to hook together, need to hang the door and wire over the top. It will be for my Seramas, and I have a child's playhouse as their coop.
