The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

OMG...DH interrupted a burglary at the course this morning. There was a physical altercation, they shot at him (missing him thank God), he pursued them in our car. Both their vehicle and ours rolled. Both vehicles totaled, at least one robber ran for it, don't know about the other yet. DH is very sore, some minor injuries. Waiting for the sheriffs to finish their investigation before we can go down and access the damage.

Seems like a bad dream. But DH is ok, so thankful for that. Gotta go, ttyl.

Hope this mess has been sorted out by now. Glad that your husband is OK.

Who knew? I never thought golf courses were so dangerous, except when someone gets beaned by a wayward golf ball. (Tiger, Phil or Sergio). Really does he need a bullet proof vest?

Your husband is a hero - hope the perps get the full arm of the law..

I'm hoping the law will overlook the fact that hubby most likely could have at least a couple of charges against him (things like speeding, careless and reckless operation of a motor vehicle), and that the insurance company won't get sticky about paying for the car.

nfc .. glad your hubby is ok, perps need the book thrower at them. No call for that crap. Glad your hubby didn't take any crap off of them. Word should spread that he is not to be messed with. At least not without consequences anyway.

Hey everyone, thanks for the good wishes.

DH is doing pretty well this morning, mostly just sore. He had gone down early to look for his wallet and check on a few things. There were 2 guys with the hood of their Jeep up in the parking lot when he got down there. DH looked around in a couple of buildings for his wallet and all looked ok, nothing out of order. He moved our car to another spot which made those guys think he had left and apparently that's when they kicked in a door, grabbed 2 cash registers, a computer, some liquor and snacks. DH saw the broken door when he walked back into that building. They were getting ready to leave when DH confronted them, a brief altercation happened.

They took off and DH followed trying to get a tag number when they slammed on their brakes causing him to ram into the back of their vehicle. Our little KIA Soul kept going and DH was worried about being out in the middle of no where with those 2 guys so he kept following them (they were on the only road out here, headed toward town). They tried the same maneuver, DH swerved to avoid them, the vehicles collided and that's when they both rolled. Those guys ran off into the prairie while DH flagged down the sheriff who was responding to the 911 call.

All of yesterday was spent with the sheriffs, working with IT guys trying to get something off the security cameras, accessing the damage, securing the door they kicked in, etc. No word yet on whether the 2 have been found.

Today we're going to try to do business as usual. I'm sure DH will be asked by most everyone that comes in about the whole thing and it upsets me to keep hearing it. I could be sitting here without a husband if things had gone just a tiny bit differently. I was so MAD at him! And of course, so thankful he is here.

And after all that, he found his wallet in a pair of pants HERE at home.

And Bunny, you're spot on with the concerns about charges against DH and the auto insurance company. We'll have to see what happens with all that. What a mess. But DH is alive so we can deal with it.

Hi Debby - what a saga, but as you rightly say - DH is ok and thats the only thing that matters!

Wish that were just a bad dream. So glad he is ok, this could have turned out a deadly mistake!

Watch your back and hope your DH doesn't place himself at risk again.

Amen to that last about placing himself at risk again. That's what got me so mad at him. Kind of funny, he's banged up and sore and others keep acting all awed by what he did and all I can do is call him an idiot. Idiot. So not worth it.

If any of you find yourself in a similar position (which I sincerely hope you do not), don't take risks. It's always better to be able to go home to your family no matter what you lose.
