Good luck Chris, keep us posted on how it works out!

Hey there DMC, sorry to almost overlook your greeting...I wasn't quite awake the last time I was on here.

I'll be headed off to the pro shop in a bit. It's been pretty slow lately so if that holds true today, we're going to close early and drive to my cousin's in Laramie (about an hour away). She has some "stuff" she wants to get rid of and DH is hoping for some tools.

What's up with you today?

Hi Debby! Did your hubby get any tools then... hope you had a good time stop your cousins

Safe we are, and sound of body (if not exactly of mind!) And very, very grateful that it is no worse than it is. The power has come back on, and the water in the horse paddocks is beginning to recede. It's gonna be a while, though a sunny, breezy day like this will definitely help. They are saying that this is hurricane Floyd all over again, plus a little. After Floyd, Wilmington was functionally an island - all of the roads out of here were flooded and impassable. My mother lives near Goldsboro (roughly an hour inland), I talked with her this morning. They have power, but have been urged not to try to go anywhere for at least the next two or three days, as the rivers are rising and a lot of roads are not safe. My folks are on relatively high ground, so as long as they stay home, they probably will be fine. Mom said they measured about 8" (20 cm) of rain in their back yard, but they live in one of those odd spots that seem to be dry when everyone else is soaked. The official measurement near Goldsboro is almost double that, and all that water has to go somewhere.

Glad to hear you're safe. I have a sister in Wilmington, I hope they didn't get much damage. It didn't dawn on me that it was hitting there also as I had Florida on the brain...I should maybe pay more attention to the news!

Matthew when he was bearing down on Florida was terrifying; by the time he got here, he'd lost a lot of his punch. I think the highest wind gusts recorded at the airport were only in the 60's.There's a lot of debris, of course (and Oak Island lost a good bit of their pier). But the major story seems to be inland with the rivers flooding.

I found it very hard killing the males straight after hatch

Had to get Charlie to do it for me in the end

Its hardly one of life's pleasures, I agree. Still, one rooster is more than enough in my set-up, and I am deliberately trying to breed birds that are slight, small but good layers (dunno why I just don't buy commercial layers

) so they are not worth keeping for eating.

Morning all!

All the strong wind we're having this morning seems to be interfering with my connection (I'm guessing that's the problem).

Kim, I'd have a problem doing in the little guys too and would probably end up with a yard full of roosters instead. Did you ever get the Tolbunts you wanted?

TK, did my troll avi bring you back to us? I have a lot more of them in store if that's what it takes to get you to pop in!

DMC, hi there! How's your Tuesday shaping up? Hope all is ok with your sister.

Bunny, stay high & dry and take care!
