Mine can see me when I pull up in front of my house.  (Hey, Ma?  Now that you're home I'm sending Katie over for some ________  fill in the blank)  They know when I leave.  (Hey, Ma?  Where ya heading?)  They know how long I've been gone.  (Hey, Ma - thought you'd be home by now.  Any trouble?)  And they know when I can't sleep.  (Hey, Ma, got up to go to work at 4 am and your kitchen light was on.  You okay?)  Yeah.....

And you love it...

I'm sure you do Blooie - it's an issue I wrestle with, living 20 years in another continent from my family and it gets more acute considering the age of my parents.

Yes, yes I do love it! Every annoying no-privacy-ever moment of it, because I know what I feel for them is returned unconditionally. However, there are times...,.,

one of the things I miss most about my dad, was his visits.

We live less than a mile from where I grew up, and where my mom and dad lived. Dad would, several times a week, stop by for a visit. He would visit with my wife, and kids, give lots of hello and good byes hugs, and the on his way out, he and I would visit, and drink a beer or two leaning on the bed of his truck.

His visits were only about 15-30 minutes at a time and always appreciated. I'd give a whole bunch, to have a visits from dad like that again.

I learned allot from him, on how to work with my hands, be responsible, grow into my manhood, but the most important thing he probably ever taught me, wasn't something we ever discussed. He did it by example. His love for my mom, me and my sister, his grandkidsand great grandkids, even step agrandkid and an adopted grandkid, was truly unconditional. It was seamless, a person would never be able to tell in anything he ever did, or affection he showed, which were his biological, and which were brought into his family.

Blooie, I'm sure your family treasures living close and being able to enjoy any of the moments they can with you.

Didn't you recently request broody mamas?  I was just trying to help.  :idunno

I said ONE and I already got that one! :lau

(I am afeared that this is the trickle before the flood. This one is in the regular nest boxes, and, as we all know, broodyness is severly contagious)
