The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning and happy Friday!

Berts, that's awesome about your son. While I was reading your post, I kept thinking of that old Sean Astin movie, "Rudy", which happens to be one of my favorites. BIG congrats to your son and you!

Bert, it's the things that don't come easily that build character - sounds like your lad will have it to spare.

And on the subject of showboating; I am remembering a famous coach that was known for actively discouraging the end-zone celebrations. When a reporter asked him why, he said, "I want them to act like they have been there before."

At the rate things are going, teams are going to start celebrating when a player makes it all the way from the bench to the huddle without tripping.

thanks folks......I'm not taking any credit for any thing he has done or accomplished, the only thing I can take credit for is his good looks.....lol.....ain't no denying who that boy looks like. I think God blessed me with far better kids, than I deserved, bc he knew I'd need all the help I can get raising them. lol

I agree with you Bunny, and heard the phrase more than once from my dad, and coaches growing up. I remember, in my jr year of high school, scoring a very important td in a fairly meaningless game, raising my arm in my exuberance. I had dang good game too, but the ride home with dad, all we discussed was acting like I had been there before, him citing the many examples of NFL players that did NOT celebrate. lol Looking back on those talks from my dad, I guess is one reason, I try to instill those things in my kids. I get it now.

Berts, sounds like your Dad had a good head on his shoulders and passed it on to his son (you).

Chris, feeling better this morning, thanks for asking. Now my laptop has decided to fall apart. I can't get any pictures or icons to show up here. Drat!

Dad was a very good man.......then it skipped a generation, and now my kids are good.......you know how it works......lol

Bert, if you start apologizing for long posts about being proud of your son for his accomplishments and his ethics, I'm in a world of hurt because that means I have 2+ years of Jamie-LittleDiane-Austin-Evan-Katie-Kendra posts to apologize for! Dangerous precedent to set, my friend! Great job, Dad/coach!!
