The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Forgot to add, my laptop is acting up...it will shut down at random points and then take forever to come back up. I think the poor thing is feeling it's age.

Anyway, if I suddenly disappear, it's because my laptop decided I was on long enough.

Hi everyone

Sorry to hear of your laptop woes - isn't it fairly new? Very annoying, either way!

I know everyone tired of my fridge issue - but so happy to report only $39 for an inlet water valve I found locally and a friend of DH who stopped by today to visit and the friend swapped it out and Eureka!!  My 26 YO GE is working, no leaks and making ice and dispensing cold water :bun   So won't be buying bagged ice or shopping for new refrigerators ( I hope).

And DH is recovering so well, he drove me to get the part and to the grocery today ....  but is threatening to "tell on me" because I let him pick up a 10# bag of bird seed.. But his weight lifting limit is 10#  for who knows how long :idunno .  Am thinking about calling his surgeon and advising him that DH can lift 10# with one hand without strain and getting the limit increased :lau

Awesome Sunflour! I just ordered a water filter for mine on Amazon...name brand ones are about $70 I bought a generic for $23...I hope it works as well but if it doesn't it will be a lesson learned! It's supposed to be 100% money back guarentee. Don't let your hubby lift anymore then recommended...a second surgery would suck

Morning everyone!

Sunflour, good to hear the fridge is fixed and DH is recovering nicely. Try not to wear your poor guy out lifting too much bird seed.

If there's someone that enjoys housecleaning, send them over to my house for a world of fun!

Morning Debby! If I lived closer I'd help you clean. I do that for a living so I have experience

...good morning Chris!

Is it just when you are on the internet or for all computer off line uses? If only on the net and if you are wireless, could be the same thing that happened to mine last year.

Some models don't really need a filter and have a "plug" you can put in and not have to continue buying those filters - they claim they are to remove medications ( especially female hormones) from the water - and honestly IMO that is a bunch of bunk

If your area's water supply is not a high risk, you may try that next time - they also sell those plugs for most models on Amazon.

DH's surgery was the main reason the fridge's problem timing was a big issue - but it was such a lucky coincidence to have just bought the part and his friend decided to come visit and offered to do the job - now that was great timing

I didn't know you did that for a living - IMO that is a physically demanding profession - bet you are in great shape :)

Good morning, Sir Sour - hope you are fully recovered from your trials (hopefully, no tribulations)

We have never changed the filter and bought it 4 years ago...I can't believe water was still going through it. We live on a farm so the water is from our well. I wish I was in great shape

...I'm not doing it forever, I'm going into my 5th year. One of my ladies today asked if I ever get sick of cleaning and I said yes, come Friday's!! It's amazing how many people want housecleaning done, I have turned many away...especially young people as the elderly need me and the young don't want to do it.

Sounds like a very ethical way of selecting your clients, DMC and I'm sure helping out those that are no longer able to do the job themselves is a lot more rewarding.

I know that you are all tucked up in bed as I post this, but I'll say good morning to you all anyway

Hi Phil, yeah, it was always summer in FL except during Dec/Jan in north FL...then it was bone chilling cold with the low temps and high humidity. We're not missing FL at all! We actually have a busy winter planned. First we'll do all the winterization chores here at the course then we're unpacking (yay!). We need to re-do the kitchen to make it more "user friendly", I want to re-work my bread recipes for this high altitude baking and need room to do that. Plus, DH loves to cook and the way the kitchen is now, it's hardly usable.

Thanks for asking about C, my nephew. The x-ray shows a quarter size "shadow" in his throat. He goes in for a bunch of lab work and another more thorough exam this coming week. C doesn't seem to know anything out of the ordinary is going on but my mother (he lives with her) is about a hair away from a nervous breakdown.

So what sort of winter plans do you have coming up?

ICE FISHING!!!! can't wait for ice to form..... :hide
