Speaking of monkeys...have any of you ever seen a real Organ Grinder & Monkey?


When I was a kid there used to be one every year at the State Fair. While the guy played music, the monkey (all dressed up in a red hat & coat) would collect coins from the people watching him. If someone tried to give the monkey anything less than a quarter, the monkey would throw it on the ground and go to the next person. Once I saw someone try to give the monkey a fake coin, the monkey bit it, realized it wasn't a real coin and charged screaming at the guy. Good thing the monkey was on a leash, I think he would have hurt him.

Must be a morale to the story somewhere. And I guess that explains why the organ grinder & his monkey weren't at the fair after that.
