I think the Sun has deserted us also ... overcast and threatening to rain today, might have to take the tracky dacks back out of storage

Sorry, I did not mean it was funny that you were freezing, just the way you worded it.

It was snowing on the day I was born and I have been snow skiing but honestly, no I have not experienced actually living with snow on a long term basis .. however, I am married to someone who has and he is in no hurry to live with it again.

You did not hurt my feelings, I knew what you were laughing at.. I was just curious living in the semi-tropics like you do if you had ever been in the freezing cold. When we lived in Florida our neighbors had never seen snow, let alone this bitter cold we have today. I wish you could experience it. It is unbelievable.

I know it definitely does not compare but I do remember a few years ago being stuck outside in one of our southern states and there was a bitter wind blowing .. I was that cold, it hurt.

I am sure I would sook!

Lots of BYC posts mention that chickens handle the cold much better than the heat and that may be true but I do think it is easier to keep them cool on hot days than it is to keep them amused during weeks of snow and battling frost bite etc.

I sook when it is too hot and humid but I do not think I want to trade places

'what is SOOK? is that an Aussie word?

The main problem with cold is water. I did have a cockerel that insisted in sitting out in the blizzard a week or so ago. When I went out in the morning he was frozen solid, upright to the roost. I had to pull him off his feathers were frozen to the roost. So terrible.
