The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning folks

I had an interesting start to my day …. The good news, it only took my brain a couple of seconds to determine the reason I was in a heap on the floor between the bed and the wall .. knee not working!

Now, this knee was working when I went to bed but apparently some time during the night, it decided that it was going to have today off!

I can cope with that, it is all part of getting older and you work with it. However, due to lack of notice via a small twinge or warning sign the night before, I had not factored a non functioning knee into my day. Had I known my knee was not going to work, I would have made plans to get up and go to the bathroom a little earlier.

As I was frantically grabbing door frames and sliding along the wall in the general direction of the bathroom hubby says “what have you done?”

So many responses like, “you could help me” or “performed knee surgery on myself while you slept” were on the tip of my tongue but I went with “knee not working” to which he nodded and returned to his man cave while I happily closed the bathroom door ..

Hubby had used the time that I was in the bathroom to diagnose the issue and on opening the bathroom door I heard “cold air”. Again, so many responses “Seriously? Cold Air?” “It didn’t drop below 75F overnight!” “Where did you sleep that it was cold?!” but instead I went with “May be” …. the mutual understanding of the joys of growing old together

I recently had my knee replaced, I could lend you my walker or cane.

Seriously, I feel your pain, hope you get it working again.

I hope you are on the mend now.

I am sure it will be fine in a day or two; just another one of those aches or pains that we manage to conjure up in our sleep. I have it supported .. we have a supply of wrist, knee and elbow supports for these occasions; old age preppers

Thank you back, I'm getting there. I still have to do the other one, maybe next fall. Old age stinks, I wish I hadn't worked so hard my whole life, maybe than half of me wouldn't be made of titanium. I have two titanium shoulders and a knee. I am becoming the tin man.

I have found the cure to those nighttime injuries, it's as simple as not sleeping through the night and getting up multiple time in order to keep an eye on yourself.

See, that just proves my theory about getting old....it isn't the BEING old that stinks, it's the process of getting there! Stuff that works, hurts while it's working. So if you wake up in the morning and something doesn't hurt, you'd best call a doctor 'cause whatever it was, has quit!

Maybe that's why I hurt! I better start slacking a bit! My mom had knee surgery and said that was the most painful surgery she'd ever had.

At one point I had believed I had made a horrible mistake, but now I'm glad I did it. I highly recommend taking time to smell the roses, and not working too much, too late for me, I still probably do too much as sitting around isn't my thing.
