Hey, easy on us guys.

We have highly developed nerve endings and feel pain more intensely.

Aw, you know we love you guys. That's why we put up with your "highly developed nerve endings"!

Good morning folks

Just a real quick one because I am going into the office today .. last time for a while hopefully!

Anyways, just letting you know that all is OK. Well, it is a little too early for the girls 05:30AM and still dark so I have not checked on them but the roof is on the coop! Also, can’t check for damage yet either, but I think we came through pretty well unscathed.
Forecast for today is a bit breezy but easing as the day goes on and this is the radar

Hopefully I will be able to catch up with everyone’s news now over the weekend when some degree of normality has returned

Teila, your weather map is MUCH improved over the previous ones. Glad to hear things are looking up!

Well, this hiring business is some kind of fun.

Since the one gal can't seem to be bothered to do her HR paperwork, we decided to interview one more person for the club house. Her appointment was for 12:00 today. That time came and went. DH sent her a text to see if she was having trouble finding us...nope, she thought the interview was tomorrow.

And 1 of my helpers can't be in Monday due to a little problem with a warrant out for her arrest.
I tell you...life just keeps getting more and more interesting.

Last night I had two helpers with the Java finches. Luvy and Valentine have been very interested in them so we let them out to get them used to each other. I'd already fed the Javas but they opened their mouths and begged anyway. Luvy and Valentine would regurgitate some seed, but they didn't really know what to do next - but it's the thought that counts!

Pinkie Pie has hatched 3 baby bourkes. The last two eggs looked like they dried out too much. I had to bring one chick in and warm it up yesterday as it had ended up at the other end of the nestbox and got cold. It had a full crop so Miss Pink is looking after it just fine. I checked on them a couple of times (much to Madam's displeasure) and they all seemed to be cuddled up together. I did take the opportunity to remove all the chicks and put in some more pine shavings as the amount of poop generated in a week was amazing! Pinkie was not happy about that either and moved the chicks up the other end of the box for awhile, but the last time I checked on them last night they were back where they should be.

I'd better go out and check on them soon. I must check my Society finch nest too - I'm not even sure whos nest it is or if both females have been adding to the clutch.

Teila - glad to see the weather has calmed down. The remnants of the storm look like they are headed our way, but it won't be much by the time it gets here.

Oh, N F C - you are having fun finding staff!!! I don't even know what to say!

J, that is amazing about Luvy and Valentine trying to feed the Javas! Guess they'll be good parents when their time comes. I love their coloring!

Re: your last sentence...sometimes I feel like my life is just soooo boring. But I think I kind of like it that way compared to what others have going on.

. Can you let her go or un-hire her...wouldn't want her around y'all.

@Blooie hope Ken gets to feeling better soon. Shoulder rehab is not easy.

Telia, glad the storm has passed, hope the flock are all ok.

J - great pics, those babies are really feathering out.

DMC - hope you survive the 4 jobs today.

My issue seems minute next to what y'all are experiencing, but a whole day off and awoke with a really sore throat

Boring is good! I like boring.

I have to say I do adore those two little finches - they are so funny and cheeky and full of character.

And if I didn't already have enough babies, my DD's button quail have decided to have a family. When we first got them the female left behind a chick - she'd only had one and my DD loved her golden colour, so the guy we got them off put her chick with another quail mother where it did just fine, and got to have some brothers and sisters. Anyway, she started laying very quickly after moving here and laid a clutch which she incubated fine until they started pipping, then she abandoned them. So I finished hatching them under a heatlamp and we now have 5 that are adults now. Thankfully they are still living happily together despite the fact that there are 3 boys and 2 girls - my DD doesn't want to sell any. Button quail are wild little things that don't like to be handled, but having been raised inside (they are still inside) they aren't scared of us. 6 hatched but one didn't survive, despite my efforts to save it. So I'm really hoping Miss Matilda takes care of her babies this time around as I'm running out of spare cages! I didn't even know she was laying again until she wasn't at the door to greet me yesterday and I found her tucked away on a nest with 6 eggs (I had a peek while she was taking a break). I have told my DD we can't keep these ones. We'll see how that turns out!

@sunflour you should post your Edible Easter entry here...it was so cute, it should be ooh'd and ahhh'd over by all of us!

@JaeG so adding them all up together, how many birds do you have?
