That's about as cute as they come. Only thing that could possibly add too it would be Blooie's run! That lattice just tickles me!
Aww, you are both too kind.....at least I think Debby was being kind......were ya, Debby?Thanks Dawn!
I forgot to say, I plan on getting 5 chickens so the size should work.
Blooie's coop is unique...just like her![]()
You and Teila need to grow webbed feet~That's one cute coop! Can't wait to see photos of your new chickens, when you get them.
It's bucketing down here and has been since yesterday afternoon. Cyclone Debbie still has some rain left in her! She's hit the whole of the North Island. It's supposed to be windy today too. I had to move my silly silkie. She's broody, has been for ages, but she's made herself a nest out in the run, which has a roof, but she was getting wet yesterday afternoon. So I had to climb in (its a low run) the drag her out nest and all and shut her in the coop. There were 3 old quail males living with them but I moved them as they stay down in the lower run which is on the ground and there was a lot of water going straight through that run.
It's 4.45am so still dark. I'm hoping all my nestboxes in the aviary aren't soaked too, but I'll have to wait for daylight before I pull on my soaking wet boots, put on my wet raincoat, and go see how the backyard and aviary looks.
Aww, you are both too kind.....at least I think Debby was being kind......were ya, Debby?That coop is really cute, but in your area you'll really need to focus on the predator protection, which he (the builder) says he didn't worry too much about. You'll have a hodge podge of just about everything.....And I think a run like mine would be cute...kinda like Dutch Cottage meets Hobbit!![]()

With some modifications, what do you all think of this coop? DH doesn't have any time to build something but there's a guy in town that can. I was thinking of showing him this coop idea with my changes and getting a price estimate.

What I'd change:
* make the door a bit wider (2.5' instead of 2')
* nesting box on the outside to save inside room
* regular square door instead of the arched door
* no window box
* different roost placement
Don't pay any attention to the run, I have another idea for that.
Opinions? Thoughts?
I saw that one this morning, it is really cute. I love their door, but agree it would be easier to go more traditional - I had wanted a dutch type door into my run, but DH nixed that idea
Where you live, you would have to have a covered run or a larger coop? And for me it would have to be right outside your back door so you don't have to go so far in cold weather to gather all those eggs![]()
