The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Well the babies were fine when I checked on them. Pinkie was out this afternoon asking for food. Hopefully she's tucked them in well tonight - it's going to be another cold one.

Here are some photos from this morning. Everything was fuzzy with ice crystals and the mud was crunchy underfoot!

Thick ice that had formed on the water sitting on a tarpaulin:

Whoa, those pictures gave me a chill J! Hope the babies do well and the eggs in the bator too.

My son gets here today :wee

Hi sunflour, better button up your overcoat with a cold snap like that! :D

You know how 'they' say everything happens for a reason? The bathrooms at the club house are having an issue and since we can't get ahold of the company that services them until Monday, the restaurant is closed until the septic problem is fixed (health ordinances rule out having a restaurant operate without a bathroom). That means no cooking/baking for now so I'll have some extra time today and tomorrow to spend with J. And since the full-time cooks are getting their time off now, I think they'll be covering Tuesday when I normally cook. Yay, more time off to spend with my son :)

Even without the restaurant operating this weekend, we've had some record numbers of golfers coming out because the course is in great shape. We'll see what hunting season does to that in the next few weeks (last year it killed off almost all business).

One bit of bad news...my 17 yr-old assistant has to have knee surgery Tuesday so she's most likely finished for the season. Poor girl, she's had several procedures done already and they haven't helped. She's a good kid, hate to lose her.

Good Morning Debby,

RE: the bathroom problem, it is a great time for that to happen :D

Sorry about the 17 yo's knee - if it's just arthroscopic surgery, she may recover quite quickly (being so young) and still be able to help after school before the season ends?

Hope you and DH can hide during the hunting season .
Sorry but I get an image of hunters on the course :lau

That's a scary thought!

Re: my girl's knee...they're removing a plate that was put in about a year ago as it's been a problem. I hope she'll be able to come back at some point, we'll just have to wait and see.

Are you off work today? (Hope so :fl)

Good morning Debby and all! So glad you will get to spend time with your son. How long is he staying?

Have fun with your son Debby. What a stroke of luck you have a bit of time on your hands. Your poor 17 year old. That's a lot of surgery - fingers crossed it works this time around.

I've woken up to another winter wonderland. Then I see that Sydney, just across ' the ditch' (as we say), had it's warmest July day in 150 years. It was (sorry, just had to find a conversion calculator) 80.6F. Which puts your cold snap into perspective Sunflour! Toasty!

I checked my Bourke eggs in the incubator once the house was warm enough. One looks to have died but the other has internally pipped. Now I just have to decide if I try and give it back to Pinkie or try and raise it myself!

Here are my other two cuties - they are so sweet and cuddly at the moment:

Yep, but the day went by way to fast :)

Debby, and exactly what did you use to clog up the toilets ? It's okay you can tell me. I'll keep it a secret. Enjoy the visit with your son.

Yep it does.. We actually hit mid 80's but it felt like fall compared to the heat and humidity we have had :)
