Yikes it was hot here yesterday and so humid last night. Today’s predicted maximum is 93F :sick

Still suffering some fallout from the weekend release today but it has eased off enough that I might get a toilet break :p

Carpricorn the signs look great! I would love one but the postage would be a bit pricey!

Love it Teila... Puts life into perspective.

It just isn't worth pushing it in the heat and humidity there @Teila ....frequent breaks for some cooling off really pays in the long run...ya have to build up to it as the season develops and a hand towel with cool water or ice water wrung and place around the neck will help to cool the brain and make ya feel more refreshed.

I took programming classes back in '77-78 and even took a keypunch course....was programming in RPG and COBOL....went to work for a service bureau as an operator on a Burroughs computer and all the info was fed into the machine thru cases of punch cards. I left the computer field and chose to perform manual labor the rest of my life.....spent 17yrs in warehousing and loaded and unloaded trucks for about 6-7yrs before driving an 18 wheeler.....:)

Thank You! :)

Sometimes I sit here and dream of doing something outside .. even considered vegetable picking cos the vegetables do not get impatient or abuse you when you have not picked them within an SLA :p

We are currently hitting a first hour response SLA of usually somewhere in the 90-95% of tickets but have been told that that is not good enough and we need to constantly achieve 100%. Not easy when you have one Triage [me] and two Level 2's for over 1,000 users and daily averages of 80 tickets is pretty much the norm. In the last 12 hours of actual support time we have had 118 tickets :caf and I can guarantee you that we did not hit the 100% first hour reply SLA :p

That seems a little unrealistic @Teila. The only way a single person can guarantee 1 hour 100% is to funnel off to 2nd level what you can't get to by minute 55. I'm betting that is not what management wants.

A long time ago when I worked as a Meat clerk, I would be laid off during the January to March months because of work slow down. I had to go on un employment then. It was a real pain!
Um, people don't eat meat in the winter? I know my consumption is pretty constant through the entire year.

remember cards?
Yep. Ever get paid to program in Assembler?

Things have changed...just a tiny bit
Um, yeah JUST a tiny bit. In fact it has gotten easy enough to code that people can do it without much specific education any more. Guess I hit the "sweet spot" of the 80's through 00's for software engineering. Glad I'm now retired though, don't need the stress.

Oh, and while I am having a mini vent :barnie

Sending me a helpdesk request advising you have a "new error" is not really helpful unless you share that error with me sunshine!

Same with "xxxx won't let me xxxx" Really? It is software, software does not have a sense of humour or malice .. how about you expand a little on "won't let me"; prompts, error messages etc.

Or "I can't xxx" to which I would so love to respond "is that because you are an idiot or is there an actual issue" :p

And, my favourite [sarcasm intended] "can you please do xxx" or "unlock this job" .. yeah, I can, but it would help if you give me the job number :he

Vent over :p We can now return to our regular program .......................

Sadly, that is 1 hour across the board, Triage, Level 2, Developers. Someone has to respond within an hour to ALL tickets, including escalations. So where I could flick to Developers after my troubleshoot, I now have to address the request twice, once with the troubleshoot [private comment] and again to advise the user it has been escalated, because I know the Developers will not be getting back to the user within the hour.

Anyways, 100% is never going to happen ;)
