Ohhh that makes sense! Sounds like you have a good plan. And yeah, shepherds are definitely protective. Gator doesn't like strangers either. Until he meets them, then the Lab wins. Well, mostly. He freaks out and goes ballistic when people pull in or come to the door but I think that's largely cause we didn't socialize him so he doesn't know/over reacts. But he definitely is protective too. Anyway, usually he's okay once they come in but you sort of have to put him in another room or on a leash beforehand so they can get in the door. But then he loves them. He's also protective of the car. But off property like on walks, he LOVES people and wants to say hi to everyone. But the reason I said "well, mostly" after the once he meets them the Lab wins bit is because there have been a few people and dogs he just hates and because of lack of socialization, sometimes certain types of people he hasn't seen much he reacts to. But then again he's walked in the city with my brother before so maybe he isn't reactive or it was just once, idk. Of course with him it's probably more lack of confidence than protective but still.
Anyway, any way you can get her to a city or even slightly bigger town to socialize her with more people?
