The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Happens to me too though I'm usually good for 2-3 hours before the morning nap attack hits.

Fire in a stove or fireplace? One shouldn't have to babysit ALL night :(

Supposed to get to 47°F today, won't be a "January thaw" though (defined as 24 hours of above freezing). Given how unusually frigid cold it was the end of Dec and beginning of Jan I didn't think we were going to have the annual thaw, but it happened a couple of weeks ago. 27°F this morning, supposed to be 16°F tomorrow morning and about 0°F Wed morning. I don't think spring is just around the corner for us ;)
Stove. My boss, bless his heart, brought me 2 cords of wood they had cut down, although dead, they're still pretty wet. The wood smoulders a lot of the time, and as it's poplar, it doesn't give off very much heat. I'm thinking I may have to tap into what little is left of my savings and buy a cord of tamarack.

Ah, wet wood. Yep, much harder to work with. I've been pretty lucky, occasional piece of wood will be hissing out water but with other pieces in the stove dry enough to keep the temp up. Have you tried stacking a few day's supply in the room with the stove? Might help dry it out a little bit.

Someone needs to kick me. I can't seem to get motivated to do anything productive.
You deserve a day off @N F C, take it :D

Is tonight's dinner another "see if I want to add it to the GC menu next season"?

Nope, just for us. It's Creamy Garlic Mushroom Chicken served over rice. I have all the ingredients and I get tired of making the same thing all the time. Good thing DH is an adventurous eater!

This is random but I had to laugh when I came across this...
