Already there! I am good to go.I thought your latest project was RESTING and GETTING HEALTHY!!!
German Shepherds have lots of energy!!! Beautiful dogs but they need attention.Oh and I'm lucky Gator is so lazy. I just watched a 22 minute mini documentary on Belgian Malinois and have been watching a lot of other videos on them and boy I could never own one lol this one was frisbee obsessed and non stop.
From what I hear, the breed has no off switch unlike a German Shepherd. Although this particular one had the toys out all the time so I think if I had one I would not do that and it might help but even them, probably not lol
They do seem like an incredibly amazing and loyal dog though and they are SO smart and intelligent and willing to do anything for their owner/handler. But they are go go go and need a job and mental stimulation. Arguably more important than physical exercise.
So basically you have to live to train and want to really dedicate yourself training and exercising your dogs which I don't think I want to do haha
I mean, I did want to be a dog trainer and/or walker for a while and I might still do that but I think with these guys it's like an all day, full time job kinda thing. And that's really cool but I think I'd rather have a dog that can work or exercise for a few hours and then chill. Rather than a constant thing. Plus like for instance, I love going to concerts and sometimes stay overnight and I don't think the dog could handle that. By that I mean being left alone all night or even day if it's a day concert. As opposed to a dog who would be fine being alone for a bit. I'm sure Mals could be with a lot of exercise and training beforehand but that would mean I would have to get up earlier and spend hours working with and exercising them before I even start to get ready before leaving.
I think I want my next dog to be either a Lab or a Golden. I just love the retrievers. I also love German Shepherds though but I want a specific line so I'd have to do more research and they can he harder to find than just any one, especially a good one. I love Huskies too but they are big in the exercise needs. But at least with them it's mostly just a physical/exercise need and not so much mental and training. Though they need that too. So one of those 4 are probably gonna be my next dog.
Although I've also been into Border Collies and Australian Shepherds lately. English Shepherds too actually. I love the herding breeds too, at least some, and love all the Shepherds too. Yes including GSD and Belgian and Dutch.
Border Collies are soooo smart and might be slightly less work than a Mal. Or maybe not? Maybe the same? I just think they're a little less intense and not as much bred for intense or aggressive type working? Or like high drive? But then again they can be pretty intense too and I hear showlines can be neurotic? Maybe it would be nice, if I were to get a working dog, to get an extremely loyal devoted dog like a Mal that you have to earn their trust and respect. I feel like you might get more out of your work if that makes sense. But they are so intense and I am a lazy and not active person lol
Anyway, sorry to go on a giant dog tangent![]()

I hope you're going to share pics of the cake.Yeah, I need a dog that can chill, and even though our Honey is always ready to play and would fetch a ball all day, when she's inside on her bed she's chilled out/sleeping. Maybe you could adopt an ex racing grey hound? They are lovely, lazy dogs. There are a couple of places here that rehome them but the adoption fee is quite a bit. I never realised how huge they are (never having seen grey hounds racing other than on the tv) until we saw one at the off leash park up the road one day.
It's raining here and it's going to keep on raining for at least the next two days. I still need to go collect eggs and give the chickens their evening snack which isn't fun in the wet. I've been baking cakes all day as it's our son's 7th birthday tomorrow. I'm making a red dragon cake! Wish me luck!
