The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

That must have been a record snowfall for the area.

3 more than I would have guessed they had!

It happened about once every 7 years while I was there. Simple answer was to close everything.

So true! :lau

Good Morning Friends :hugs

Jae I am so very sorry to hear you lost your babies :( Beautiful pics! That little Quail definitely has ‘just put me down hooman’ written all over his cute little face! :lau

DMC Beautiful snow pictures! :clap

Tee hee Debby, Audrey can have the car, it is not mine! LOL That is FIL’s car and it does not move much so yes, she may just claim it for herself :gig If he does not go and sit his medical for his licence renewal soonish, it will not be moving at all :p

sunflour Yes, we have pond plants and snails in the middle and bottom ponds with the fish; also a couple of decorative ornaments in both which double as hidey holes for the fishes.

Bruce, I hadn’t really thought about the egg yolks but will probably just cook them up for Jessie and the chookens. “Deteriorated” as in stopping me from doing stuff outside :p

While I can not enter the ‘snow contest’, I will start a rain contest! :p 213mm or 8 inches of rain in the past 24 hours and more predicted!

Humidity at 08:15AM is 96% though :sick

Maximum today predicted to be 88F.

Plans for today, usual Sunday .. finish housework, washing, grocery shopping and then pottering; obviously, no watering required of anything not under cover ;)

Ooops, missed this bit off the cut and paste from Word ...........
Our capsicums are what you call Bell Peppers? They are not hot. I have hot peppers growing also, along with Habanero’s which I dehydrate to make my own chilli powder.

Teila, do you have problems with snails clogging the lines?

Jae sorry you lost one but those pix are awesome!

OK folks, I'm apologizing in advance.... I discovered today that I'm 5 pages behind in greets and will try to catch up tomorrow. Sorry for tossing them back in your queue.

Tomorrow I plant peas, lettuce and spinach outside and a whole host of things inside. Finally got the grow table setup... only short one heat mat... I have six, and can only find one. The others must be with the grow light I can't find. Moving is a pain...

Sorry guys, we have a very pleasant day up to 74°F today. I went to town and saw lots of daffodils. Got a load of bargains too, the truck was full! Concrete blocks, $1 each. Big pieces of plywood 39"x48", thick stuff $2 each! Hinges at the Restore , $1 a pair, window panes, $5 each, Ikea plastic bins $1. each. I got a pitch fork and a flat ended shovel for the barn, $10 each. I got a sled for $3 at Goodwill , among other things. What a score! Free chocolate king sized bar at TSC, and i did not buy any of their chicks. But i did find a waterer for baby quail, just in case....

You are forgiven! Well, until this afternoon which is when it is time for me to do my greets :p Kidding :hugs

How old is your F-I-L??

81, turns 82 in July.

@DigMyChicks I have a standing order with chewy.com for chicken treats every 8 weeks. Our farm stores here (all 2 of them) don't have much for chickens other than feed.

@Teila I won't enter the rain contest. It's high desert here, not much rain. I hope you enjoy your time off work, it sounds like a lovely vacation at home.

@rjohns39 it's not hard to get behind in the greetings. As for filling up my queue, I usually un-follow after a while, otherwise, I'd never find my 'real' threads!

@CapricornFarm sounds like you got some great bargains today!

@Michelle Farmer-Brown are you still buried under snow?

@bruceha2000 all those egg yolks are perfect for egg nog (you just need to get Teila to send you some). Good for challah bread too!

Teila, do you have problems with snails clogging the lines?

Sorry! I forgot to answer this question :(

Not at the moment but the ponds and snails are only young. However, we do have quite a large pipe going from the pond to the filter reservoir so hopefully it will not be an issue and it will be easy to relocate any wayward snails from the reservoir back to the ponds.

I actually found a baby fish in the reservoir yesterday; caught him and popped him back in the pond ;)

Not the eggnog I make, it takes a dozen whole eggs. But if you say so on the challah :D DD1 says the eclairs she made took yolks.

At that age some can be driving, others not so much ;) Heck, DW's aunt still drives some during the day, she turned 100 last Nov. Dad will be 90 in Oct, DW's father 93 next month. Both are still safe on the road.
