Also can people and/or dogs develop allergies later in life?

And can a dog catch anything from a chicken?
Yes, many people become allergic over time. I know one person that developed serious allergies after brain surgery.
Yes, there are a few things that dogs can get from chickens, cocci i believe and maybe worms if they eat the poop.

Oh wow that would stink! Fine one day, wake up the next allergic to lots of things! And horribly allergic at that!

And thank you. What are the symptoms of cocci in dogs?

Fun interview, Jae.....but...but ...where was a photo of YOU?

I'm the one behind the camera (isn't that always the way)? Plus it's humid here at the moment (so horribly humid) and my hair doesn't do humid well. Yesterday wasn't quite as bad as the day before - I vacuumed the house (not even the whole house) and I was drenched! They are promising a few days of relief though we may have another cyclone heading our way. The last one missed us but hit the top of the south island.

I'd better go and find the interview...

Thanks!

So you can't just spontaneously develop an allergy to strawberries, bread/wheat or peanut butter?

Oh wow that's awful! I don't think we have cottonwoods here but I think we have dog woods? Or a dog wood I should say. At least I think that's what the tree in our yard is. White flowers, red fruit but not edible I don't think. They're these red maybe cherry sized things but weird texture/pattern on them.

That's true! But he's not exactly in shape either lol

And he's been having all sorts of problems lately which is why I asked
You can develop an allergy but it us usually with something that your are newly exposed too. If you have had lots of strawberries in your life time, it is very un likely that you will develop an allergy. It is more likely to be something that they sprayed on the strawberries.

That is for food allergies though. pollen allergies are different.

It is also being discovered that exposure to food that causes an allergy can help with building resistance to it. There is therapy for those children with peanut allergies and it works!

Like I posted before, celiac disease is not an allergy. Medical information seems to suggest that wheat allergies are not likely to be real when an adult suddenly develops it either.

BTW, there is a test for celiac disease. One does not decide that on their own

Thanks for the info!

The other day I ate a strawberry and I thought my mouth felt weird and I thought maybe my tongue was swollen but it probably wasn't. I thought maybe it was just acidity from the strawberries? Like when you eat a bunch of sour patch kids and it makes your mouth feel really weird almost numb but then I thought maybe it was an allergy. Idk. It lasted for hours though and I read it usually stops once you swallow the strawberry or spit it it out etc. And I have no problems eating strawberries that have had sugar added and sat in a bowl overnight or strawberry shortcake or strawberry ice cream or any of the fruits I read were in the same family like apples and pears.

And maybe I don't have a real gluten allergy or anything but I know that now when I eat peanut butter toast I just feel kind of weird and it doesn't make me feel better if I was hungry or whatever. Almost weak or something idk same with yogurt if I eat them all at the same time. And the texture of honey nut cheerios makes my mouth dry/scratchy and I also feel weird eating those.

Idk, maybe I'm just being a hypochondriac haha

Idk how to explain it. Cause I don't get nauseous or anything, no tongue swelling, or bowel issues, I just feel. Weird. Idk.

Although I do have other unrelated bowel issues. I think I just need to eat better though.

It is a very complicated issue with food!

I get mouth soreness when I eat walnuts. It is from the acid in it.

For Gluten issues, check with a Dr.

BTW, Nearly everything has gluten in it

That makes sense.

And really? I didn't realize that.

And idk if its a gluten issue idk, its probably nothing but idk. It usually only happens when i dont eat all day then choose to eat that stuff
