The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

There are no "attractions" as most people think of them. The attraction is in the natural beauty and the wildlife. There are places to stop....Artist's Point is stunning. Of course, there's Old Faithful, Mammoth, the Mud Volcano, Morning Glory Pool, Geyser Basin ....just so many things to see! The Park is divided into loops. There's an Upper Loop (a good day trip, then the Lower Loop, and the Grand Loop, which is basically a figure 8 that encompasses the entire Park, but you really need a lot of time to do that. Look again at that figure 8 and you can see the Upper and Lower Loops. You kinda pick which you want to do. Shoot that lower loop toward the south and you're only a few miles from the entrance to Grand Teton Park. I love Yellowstone - it's different every time we go, and we go a lot!! We usually hit the Park 4-6 times a summer.

For us Yellowstone isn't always a destination - it's our summer and fall route to get from place to place here in Wyoming. When Ken has events in the winter, we have to drive a lot of extra time because the Park is another part of our highway system. To go to Idaho, for example, we go in the East gate and out the West Gate. To go to Jackson, we go in the East Gate and out the South Gate. Yep, it's big!!

What is this and do I need it? If I disable it, will it hurt some features? It seems to be new, I don't remember it being there and it is on every single app.

And should I turn this on?

Clearing the cache on all the apos, which I haven't done in forever and I think has sped my phone up :D , when I noticed that and thought HEY! I don't want data running in the background!! Also has it for Chrome (which used a lot), Twitter, Facebook, weather, etc. Every app. Can I turn it off or is it necessary? I don't mind background apps for wifi but using my data????? Seems bad but I am not a tech expert so if it is necessary I will keep it.

Thanks! This is really helpful! It seems like a gorgeous place so I definitely want to see it!

I'm hoping to go maybe in the summer I'm going to a lot of concerts this summer and I'm not sure the best time to go, another thing I need to Google.

It depends on if you have unlimited data or not.

I would set all of them to not update in the background. It will not hurt anything to do that

It is a Wind eggs!

Those are usually from older hens that come off of not laying for a while. After 5 or so years old that is the only type the lay and only a couple a year

My mom used to make us a skating rink in the back yard. My sister and I both learned to skate with Bob skates, pushing a chair.
Who sat in the chair?

Bruce, when you get in the car and drive though Cody to Yellowstone Park, then get behind all the tour busses, RVs, and folks who stop every time they think they see an animal,
Sounds kinda like "Weekend on 100". Meaning fall foliage season on VT Rte 100. It runs up the middle of the state. Of course it also sounds like "driving near Boston" any time of year. The last 3 miles in takes a LONG time, just WAY too many people for the available road. And there is a lot of road. It is just like anywhere within 50 miles east or south of Los Angeles.

So if I wanted to go to Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks I wouldn't really be able to get anywhere and see anything or?
Yellowstone is not an "arrive, drive through and look at stuff, go home" park. At least not if you don't live nearby and can go several times a year. Go, plan to stay many days and go see the sites.

So, stupid question, do people usually drive between attractions? Or are they all pretty close together?
Like Blooie said, it is a BIG park. You best bring your hiking boots, extra food and water if you want to walk between the things you want to see ;)
