The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Tee hee Jae be careful what you wish for, as Bruce can attest, not long ago I said something about wanting rain ;)

Happy for you to take this next lot due in a few days ;)

I love this pic! Looks like we have run out of 'Road Closed' signs so employing some locals :lau

Kdog, you bathed a cat and she didn't slice you from head to toe? Can't believe it.

Never had trouble bathing my dogs(used to have a kennel) but, they were washed in the basement in laundry tub and heated room. Afterwards I brushed in layers as the stand dryer separated each strand of hair. These were fully coated show Cockers looking almost like big cochins with all their feathering.

I'm sure if I used cold water from the hose they would have reacted very badly - me too, I wouldn't want to get drenched from the water while bathing them. My dogs were also bathed once a week. They would fall asleep while drying until I had to turn them over to lay on other side.

Hope you feel better soon Blooie. :hugsHope the weather wasn't too horrible for driving.

It's hot and sunny here today. I need to do some jobs outside but it's too hot at the moment. I'd love a bit of your rain Teila (just a bit). We never get sustained/days of rain here (though Auckland is known for often having four seasons in one day).

Kelsey, our dog hates having a wash. She loves to swim, loves playing with the water squirting out of the hose, but to have to stand there and be rinsed off with it - TORTURE! Gator looks very cute all snuggled up there. I wouldn't dare wash our white cat. She'd shred me!

That's how Gator feels! Except he doesn't like water spraying from the hose either lol hose equals torture. :lau

And isn't he adorable!?

And she's a very good cat. Would rather get away.

She's very good lol she did, of course, try to get away way more than a dog. Climbed up the side of the sink, walk on the counter/hook her claws under the edge of the counter or my shirt, sprawl put spread eagle with all 4 paws against the counter edge when i tried to put her back in, etc. And accidentally clawed me once, but mostly she let me. Also, oddly, after a while she kind of gave up lol and when I turned the water off to rub the shampoo and conditioner in, she seemed to like the massage and attention, but as soon as the water came back on, GET ME OUT OF HERE lol

But she let me.

A little bit hard getting her underside, had to hold her under her armpits and up against me and spray myself and the floor in the process lol

And awww that is adorable!! He is too big to wash in the sink or a tub unfortunately or I would so do that LOL outside he has a lot of room to move around, especially on his regular rope and not a 6 foot leash, but I managed. Just stepped on the rope or caught up with him haha

He nornally stays pretty still but with the cold water he was upset. Don't blame him.

He actually also tries to either run away or snuggle lol but even running away, he comes back when I call him over or catch him. He just has this look though like how could you do this to me? Lol

Ah okay. Well, I might call the association even though we don't technically live there lol cause it's a little ridiculous leaving that, don't you think? Or is it just me?

LOL true!! He needed a bath. He hasn't gotten one in forever and smelled bad but also with the skin infection and hot spots, he smelled worse and I'm sure it was itchy and uncomfortable. So maybe now he hopefully feels somewhat better. It's been too cold to bathe him.

Although I felt bad because I had to use the hose cause originally I had 2 milk gallons with warm water and a 5 gallon bucket filled but the milk containers obviously couldn't really get up underneath him so after I emptied those two gallons I had to use the hose. Which was practically ICE COLD. :(

Normally he is good with baths but today he kept trying to get away. He was mostly good and when I catch him he stands still briefly but he was way more fidgety! But I don't blame him at all. If someone was trying to spray me with ice cold water I would run away too!! Plus not having been bathed in a while so maybe forgetting manners and me spraying and sudsing his irritated skin. But he was good. And after I was done, I dumped the warm bucket on him. And towel dried. Then the towel wrap up and heat pad arrangement. And I gave him a muffin lol

I wanted him to have a positive experience cause at the end he was kinda scared/negative experience. He ran away and up onto the deck and refused to come down. At first I tried to spray him from where I was when he planted himself and wouldn't come down but soon realized that was cruel and he will never like a bath again so after a few seconds I decided to drop the hose. Still wasn't sure but did eventually come down. That's when I hugged him/petted him a while then dumped the warm water on him and let him run away again. Bath was done anywauy, no need to torture him further lol

I was gonna condition too but he hated it and it took FOREVER to get all the suds out so I decided not to further prolong his misery haha

But the whole bath I was sweet talking him and telling him I was almost done, etc. To keep him calm and when I dried him inside in addition to the delicious muffin, I made sure to say good boy a million times the whole time and be all excited and happy and make it fun so he doesn't totally hate bathes.

I think if it was summer he wouldn't mind but it's the first time we've used the hose all winter so it was still ice cold. Thankfully though it was warm and spring like out.

I did feel bad but I wanted to bathe him before we left.

Anyway, I also later decided to bathe the cat LOL and I did use the conditioner with her. I bathed her in the kitchen sink though with warm/hot water. Very deep big sink.

Ended up with an angry cat burrito/wet rat. :lau

Thanks so much!! I think it will be fun!

Wow!

Idk. Bone or lungs maybe?
Probably Xrays would be used.

You think cats hate baths? You outta try giving them enemas. <sigh>

Happy Birthday early, Kdog.

I had to look up what that was but OMG I can imagine that was NOT fun!!

And thank you!! :)

I would just give away the cat - actually I have never owned one. I would think they'd have to be unconscious before you could do any procedure on a cat. I think cat
vets(or groomers)have to be the bravest folks on earth.

Lol judging by videos I've seen on YouTube of some seriously P.O'd cats I would have to agree!!

Had to do a lot of those when I worked as an AHT....and it seemed like the vet was never around for them.

Of course they weren't! :barnie
