The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Just went back through and it looks like the choice is pic 1. Thanks a million! I just informed Ken and he is sending the email with the file to the Grand Secretary as I type. It was getting really weird here - finally Ken said that it didn't matter which one we liked - what counted was whether people who don't really see us much (or at all - teehee) would want to hang it on the wall of their lodges and how it would look on the brochures, printed invitations and brochures. So you were a big help! For the unnecessary reveal - I liked the second, closer one and he liked the other.

Good morning :frow

@Teila congrats on the 5 year anniversary!

@Blooie don't think I told you...I bought a grapefruit knife so now I can fix up oranges like you! Found out that little knife is also handy for cutting into the top of a cupcake to fill with frosting.

Today's Opening Day at the golf course and the weather is supposed to be almost 60* so we should see a good turn out. Still no word on when we can open the restaurant because the company accounting dept. and the food delivery company can't get their acts together. Oh well, it'll happen when it happens, I'm not going to get worked up about it.
Not open for grand opening? Are they catering in food?

I'm hoping to be there come fall. Got 4 coops to build (I have the supplies, but the weather isn't cooperating). I've got a borrowed Hova Bator going, but think I'm going to make a cabinet type out of a refrigerator I have sitting in my barn.
Ooooh. You know, I seriously need to find an old fridge to make a cabinet incubator from. Only problem is I'd not be able to move it back and forth from two houses. :hmm

Shoot, step away for a little bit and now I'm behind...

@CuzChickens things sound like they're really popping your way with all the hatching, new chicks, and all!

@rjohns39 I'm glad you and your DW went out and had fun! I hope she won't be sorry in the morning  Getting out just for any reason and away from the routine grind gives a person a fresh breath...good for you!

@JaeG sounds like you had a houseful and a good time with the birthday!

@CapricornFarm did you have good luck selling your bunnies at TSC? People used to do that all the time in FL (sometimes it was like a busy farmer's market) but I haven't seen anyone do that at the TSC I go to in WY.

I hope DH hurries and gets home from work. We're putting together one of our homemade pizzas and I'm famished! Going to try something new for us with this one. Usually we have pepperoni and sausage but all we have right now is the pepperoni so I pulled a chicken breast out of the freezer, sliced it real thin and marinated it in olive oil & seasoning. Got it cooked up and ready to include for a topping :drool
Yep, I've got more than enough of them, but for some reason I still want more.
I'm getting 6 from an April 23rd Meyer hatch. 1 Barnevelder (to replace Trouble the roo from last April), 1 Welsummer (to replace Betty who died Thursday), 2 Barred Rocks (my first, I have 2 White Rocks) and 2 Golden Campines (because DD1 thinks they are cute)

What, he ran out of KFC??

Don't forget the olives, artichoke hearts and brocolli
Oooh, love those breeds.
I just lost an entire post. Grrrrr. Reconstruct time!

I ain’t going bowling with any of you! I love you all but there are some things best left undone and unseen!

Those poor chickens! I don’t know what else to even say!

Cap, I thought about you today when we went to Walmart and saw the little Girl Scouts selling cookies. I thought, “Cap should be here with the bunnies....the Girl Scouts and Cap would sell out!” Diversify, I always say. Well, I don’t always say that, but if I did I would!

SirRJohns, I’m so glad you and your Lady got out for a little fun. Ken and I aren’t big on wine tastings but friends of ours really enjoy them. My wine tasting days ended one too many Boone’s Farm Strawberry Hills ago.

Okay, this isn’t a compliment fishing post or a gag of some kind. I need your help. Our B&W official portraits have been here over a month, we need to choose one and we need to get it turned in for Ken’s year. There are things about each one we like and things we don’t like and we’ve gone back and forth until we’re down to the wire and no further ahead than when we first opened the box. Kids were split so that’s a stalemate. So you bird brains get to help choose, with no hints from me. Ready, set, GO!

I like the more formal one for sure.

If you use a mini fridge it wouldn't be too bad to move.
There. Are. Never. Enough. Chicks!

She should take self defense.

That's a good idea!

Hope she'll be okay - she'll be re-living it in her mind

I'm sure she will! It's not the first time either so hopefully he'll be locked away for a long time. Held a knife to her the night before too but he claimed someone gave him a drug. I guess the other night he tossed her around like a ragdoll and also choked her :( so it's good the neighbor called or she might be dead. She hears him throwing stuff and screaming.

OMG

Good morning :frow

Those cupcakes look delicious!!

And have a good opening! Hope the restaurant gets open soon.

Winter sucks but the drifts are very cool. The wind did a nice job of decorating:gigThe drift in front of the garage is huge...pictures can’t capture it.

Lol love the cats!

But OMG that is a lot of snow!

That little knife works pretty slick, doesn't it? I'd have never thought of it for cupcakes! Happy to hear that - I prefer multi-taskers in my kitchen and having one knife just for one purpose seemed kinda wasteful. Now it has 2 uses - maybe more hiding around the corner!

Opening creeped up, didn't it? One day blizzards, the next day golf course opening! Enjoy what time you have before the cooking rush starts.

I wish it would warm up and start being normal here. I have 4 shrimp plants that I ordered and I need to get them in the outdoor planter. They arrived in beautiful shape, but earlier than I anticipated and they are looking a little "Get us out of these little containers or you're going to be sorry-ish."

What's a shrimp plant? I assume it doesn't have shrimp hanging from it. :lau

Hmm, that's a good point! I like both but the other one does look like a more formal portrait type thing that you would see hanging somewhere.

Shrimp plant. The flowers do look just like little shrimp hanging there, and the hummingbirds LOVE them!

Oops, forgot the photos of mine!

Of course shrimp plants have shrimp hanging from them! Where else would we get them?:lau
Sorry, feeling silly today in response to having poison ivy again. I really need to start wearing gloves all the time. One cup of tea and i am going out to dig holes deeper.
Anyone interested there is a contest being voted on in the garden section, Farmer Connies thread. Nice pictures of veggies and flowers. :pop
