That's the plan! We are going to head north a bit more as Auckland is just infill housing and traffic jams now.

We drove through an area on our way to the shops that used to be farmland. 10 years ago I worked at a childcare centre there that was in the middle of nowhere really. Now it's surrounded by apartments and huge houses on tiny sections, all beige and grey and depressing, and there's just more and more land getting chopped up. It's so sad. I couldn't live like that.

We are extremely lucky where we currently are with 1/3rd of an acre but we are only supposed to have 6 chickens and 6 quail. We definitely need room to expand and our son would love some sheep. I'd like to breed some bantam chickens too.

Very exciting! Gunna have to start calling you Farmer Jae very soon ;)

Not really ... It is hard to explain ;)

It seems it

He must REALLY dislike the taste of coffee.

Oh, JUST what the new mother wants to see! Good thing she already had the baby, that could have tossed her into labor.
"You are going into labor, where is the father?"
"Out cold in the ER downstairs Doc."

Google probably knows.

LOL I guess so!

And OMG

Aussie Rules is unique with four goal posts (at each end of the field). Definitely a young man's game. It's fast and rough and exciting. I've watched a few games but I don't really have a clue what's going on (DH does his best to explain). We get the occasional game shown on tv down here in NZ.

We've been buying new (cheap) furniture just to tart the place up a bit which has given us the motivation to knuckle down and get painting so we can get this place on the market soon. Our old furniture is so old and broken! Still at the sanding stage at the moment though! All the prep stuff takes forever. I keep finding bits that have been missed that need filling. Thankfully we have 5-7 working days before the furniture gets delivered.

Thanks for the explanation

Yep, I did feel for her, probably watching the game from her hospital bed with their new baby daughter and hubby being stretchered off

Great explanation! :clap

I did Google it but could not really find anything to help explain the game briefly or anything to compare it to ;)

Must have been scary.

And yeah, I found pictures but no real explanation

Sounds nice! Good luck with the move!

And that's how a lot of areas here in US are too. Being overdeveloped or the rich people move in and jack the prices up in "scenic" areas.

Jae, I went from a 1/4 acre in the DC metro area to over 100 acres in TN. I have so much of my property that I still haven't seen or explored. Need to fix my gator as walking is way too much up and down the mountain.

Wow 100 acres!

My grandparents have 10 and there's parts they don't really go to anymore.

My cousin used to live in D.C. but moved a few years ago. They don't have a farm though but surely a much bigger house than you could get in D.C. My other cousin, her brother, still lives in D.C. or somewhere near there and just bought a house.

I have been tilling an area by hand where hubby started putting up fencing for the new garden. Planted 2 grape vines, cranberry beans, and sugar snap peas. 20180422_183114.jpg
