The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Kelsey, Kendra has Spina Bifida and Autism, along with bowel and bladder dysfunction, seizures, and has been diagnosed with "Global Developmental Delay", which is the current politically correct term for what used to be called "mentally retarded". Horse hockey! That kid is no more "retarded" than most of us in some way or another - she just learns differently. She learns things "out of order", but learn them she does!

We know the chickens made a world of difference for her and for her big sister Katie. I wrote an article about kids with disabilities raising chickens -- based entirely on our experiences with both.

Wow never would've guessed she has anything wrong from the video - seemed to be acting ans talking about like any kid her age would! And she seems to have made remarkable progress judging by the pics you've shown of her writing/drawing and the stories. She sure is one amazing little girl. :love:hugs

And thanks, I'll have to check out the article! Animals certainly seem to do a world of good for people, special needs or not. I know they have therapeutic horseback riding programs too.

I can't hear very well either, Blooie but I definitively heard her say I'm cold and walk walk I'm cold!:thumbsup

Edited to add:
Listend to it again. The best I can make out what she said is, 1st: Owee I'm cold, then either Window, Wendale, or Lindale, I assume that's the chickens name? Then again I hear Yahwee, uhuh that's chicken, walk, walk I'm cold! Then either, I stay cold or I say cold or it's cold? hard to hear exactly which one it was! I think she expresses herself purdy good!:clap

I heard all that too

Good morning everyone!

@Blooie thanks for sharing the video, don't remember seeing that one before. What a cute giggle she has!

@JaeG pretty Tui bird, nice to see pictures.

@Teila good deal on the anti-ant platform thing.

@KDOGG331 good pictures on you in the coop :D

@CapricornFarm already said it once today but it's worth repeating...glad everything worked out ok!

@rjohns39 glad you didn't have to do the overtime, you've earned a break!

Woke up to 26* this morning, brrr!

Thanks!!

There was an answer on the test I knew was the answer but I thought maybe they were trying to "trick" us, like of course you'd pick that one because there were two other similar ones of old school tactics/common beliefs, so I thought it went with those 2 and must be the one that was different from those 3. So I crossed it out and changed my answer. Just found that section in the book and I was right the first time! Gahhh!! :barnie

Bruce uses Google ;)

Hey @ronott1 Here and Now is talking about the new shingles vaccine (Shingrix) coming out. And yes they are saying even if you got the old one (which I did last year) you should get the new one because the old one is only 70% effective and the older you are the less effective it is.
I've been seriously thinking about getting that. I had a really severe case of chicken pox as a kid, so I'm thinking I'm very likely to get shingles, and knowing my luck they'd also be very severe.
