Debby, if I can find it i'll share it. It's here somewhere, just don't know where. Got a kid at work (18 yr old) who thinks 911 is funny. Hard for me to stay quiet as I lost a lot of friends that day. On Aug 31, I was at the bar with one of the NYC fire companies lost on 9/11 in the towers. That day I couldn't get to the office as all highways were closed. But I was an expert with our new phone system... Nextel direct connect. I became command central keeping tabs on our folks at the towers an the pentagon. We got everyone home safe and sound, but I came really close to boxing one of our vault dwellers ears. Last he was seen was running into the burning pentagon... His wife was calling me every five minutes... when he finally showed up at the office, I told him to call his wife. His answer was, "she doesn't expect me home until five so it's ok..." I wanted to hug him and beat him over the head and shoulders at the same time.

tomorrow, I'll take a moment to have a glass of bourbon in honor of those I've lost. Some I've lost in my arms, while others not as close. And all of those due to bad decisions I've made. In my current job, no one dies if I make a bad decision...

:hugsI still feel terribly sad if I glance at the clock and the time reads 9.11 am/pm. It was such a shocking and unbelieveable event. How that can ever be seen as funny is just beyond my level of understanding.

Cap and Michelle - your babies are so gorgeous! :love

It's a very chilly day here. Our house is toasty warm but I keep forgetting to put on a jacket before stepping out the door (in my tshirt) so it's a bit of a shock to the system.

I will never forget 9/11. I remember my sister calling from Massachusetts freaking out. I hadn’t seen any tv that day so had no clue what was happening. Then we got a call mom was in the hospital with a possible heart attack. We made a mad dash there and it was 3 hour drive and pure chaos. It was our anniversary. It was such a sad day.

It is FIL's birthday. I was at work in a Drs office that day. So sad.

So sorry RJ! Try not to be too hard on yourself, huh? :hugs

That is so sad. What could possibly be funny about 9/11 even if you didn't know anyone killed or even a family member or friend of one??

X2.

I don't get what could possibly be funny about it.

That said I have seen some people say it's okay to make jokes about 9/11 and Nazis/Hitler/Holocaust and other such terrible unfunny stuff because it's "just a joke" or they don't mean it or whatever else. There's also this thing, anti jokes, it's been around a while I think but is basically like terrible, unfunny stuff, but somehow is funny because it's not supposed to be? I don't really get it or know what it is at all because obviously not funny but I've seen it talked about. Things that aren't funny apparently are in this case? But like no, not how that works and some things you don't joke about. Kids these days I feel like lack more and more empathy even since I was younger, like meaning kids younger than me. I think maybe it's the phones/screens, they don't have to deal with the consequences as much. Example, little kid says something mean, someone gets upset, they see them cry or make a facial expression, etc. Eek, that wasn't so fun, it hurt them, maybe I won't say it. Well all the tech, you don't see faces and learn how to or not to communicate anymore nor do you realize there's a real person behind that screen. So many people sent hate or whatever through anonymous sites and stuff. And the computer itself provides anonymity. Idk, just a theory.

Wow rough day, sorry :/

9/11 I was in 2nd grade. I remember our teacher came in crying and told us something had happened but no one would tell us what. We also, of course, got released early that day. I also remember the news being on and I don't think my parent's would let me in the room but I came in anyway or something. Always nosy ha but idk if they made me leave or what but I remember seeing some images on TV so maybe not. Slightly frustrating because nobody would tell me what was going on. But of course I was a little kid. Sad day though for sure.

Yeah, when I tried that I went from lunch sized bags to a lunch bucket and suddenly found myself with a 5 gallon bucket and a fork! :he

Here's the slide show, Debby. The translations are underneath each photo. I have yet to figure out why the photos aren't as large as they are on the original Smilebox....but as soon as it went up on YouTube it was a little "off", and it didn't put them in as high def, which they were when they were uploaded. Oh, well. I think I could change that, but I don't look at it often enough to take the time to figure out how. BTW, I took every photo close to home except the fly-over of Big Horn Lake - Little Diane took that one during her flight home.

:love
That was beautiful Blooie.
