Probably gonna need that recipe...

We tasted the red velvet cake last night and reviews are in...not a keeper! The ratio of cake to frosting was way off (too much frosting, couldn't taste the cake).

The way the recipe creator made it looked kind of cool but the cutting of thin layers and stacking them with frosting in between made it much too sweet. And kind of a pain in the butt to do.

Won't be making this one again, so sorry DMC, guess I won't be posting the recipe.

Turkeys go into lock down today... Hoping for much better results, but skeptical... Then one more round in a couple weeks (chickens/turkeys) and for the grand finale we'll try a hail mary pass on ducks.

I spent the last two days moving 8 cubic meters (just over 280 cubic feet according to the online conversion calculator) of rough bark. I've made some paths so we can stay out of the hideous mud. I enjoyed doing it and was determined to get it done (so sick of getting stuck in the mud) but I'm pretty sore today. We also have 4 cubic meters of firewood being delivered today but DH needs to finish the new woodshed before that can be put away. Phew!

Our baby dove is so cute. I must download some recent photos. I'd read they can start to instinctively try and defend their nest as they get older but Winter doesn't. In fact s/he begs us for food or just wants to snuggle seeing as her parents are spending most of the day off the nest.

@KDOGG331 that is a funny video. Angel sure has a different technique for drinking!

Good morning. Trying to drum up the energy to get outside and start working. Sigh, just not a morning person.

Sometimes it takes till 9 pm to work up the energy to go outside & do something. But, too dark then and all those blood thirsty mosquitoes waiting for me. Nope.

I was going to offer up the Red Hat ladies to test, they should like red velvet too right?
But since it was a bust, I guess they have been saved.

The fudge is just too good so I keep eating it
