CLAY HA !! we have boulders, this was a quarry area before - apparently just one end of town. Everyone seems to be decorating with boulders - not out of choice, they can't move them. Smaller ones are pushed into the Forest preserve at one end. Some woman was amazed to tell me boulders were growing in the F.P.. I told her people dump them there. Of course she kept prattling away at them growing. :he

You cannot dig a couple inches into soil without hearing the "clink" of shovel against boulder. You can dig it up and if not too heavy relocate it but, once you remove it the soil(?) level drops several inches.

If you uncover one too heavy to move, you just re-cover it and walk away. I have a large, flat boulder/rock whatever. It's big enough to write the Ten Commandments on it.
Punks who dug under one end discovered tons of garter snakes. Thankfully I didn't see that.

I can't afford putting good soil in the holes, so have two small raised beds and I just have/had fancy hosta planted there. The 'had 'part means when a fence section was down so they could remove"Tree Zilla," trunk. A doe wandered into the yard and found the many flowers on hosta to be delicious. I know deer can jump 6 feet from standing still so either way. So no flowers and very little hosta.

Soooo I have houseplants instead -:idunno
My Mom's place up by Mt. Lassen is full of boulders...or actually stuff ejected out of the Volcano...It is a real hassle

:th

Nice Snacks!

I went yesterday to buy some for my friends and got most of it and then today to get potting soil and got the almond thins and the double chocolate cookies since I gave them to my friend and got the two peanut butters.

There's a store in New England, Ocean State Job Lot and they have literally everything. Clothes, home stuff, kitchen stuff, pet stuff, food, plant/garden stuff in spring, large pool section, make up/shampoo/hair and beauty stuff, books, school stuff, cleaning supplies, some hardware stuff, etc., anything you could ever want. And very reasonable prices. And the food is great because they have a lot of like organic amd healthy stuff for cheap. Those chips were $2 each!! The only downside is you can go in for one thing and walk out with $50 worth if you're not careful LOL and also they don't always have the same stuff because it's like overstock or whatever but they do usually have most of it but certain items will change. It's great though because you never know what you will find. And, again, reasonable. When you don't go crazy. And there's one right by my house.

Fred Meyer is like that in Oregon and Washington. There used to be one in Chico Califorina that I would shop at. We moved to Woodland which is too far from Chico and later the store there was closed.

It had everything!
