The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Jae!!! Good to see you! I know all about kids missing their dad, unfortunately. It's hard when you have to borrow a neighbor's husband so your daughter isn't the only one missing at the Father-Daughter dance at school. Or expecting him home in time for Christmas after an 8 month deployment only to have the ship extended until May because of some crisis. So just lots of extra hugs.

Morning everyone! Today we head to Billings for medical appointments for Ken. So with almost 2 hours up there and the same back, plus waiting time, plus appointment time, another day is shot. Tomorrow Ken has a dental appointment, I have to go down to Cody to pick up my dresses for Grand Lodge, we have the last minute things to pack and get out of Tam's house and into storage, and Friday is looking almost as busy - so far. Fortunately Fee's doing well so we can trust her alone with her incision. I think she's too big to be able to comfortably contort herself enough to get at it and chew. So she can be left in her crate while we're gone and we don't need Tam to watch her.

Finally saw a hummer - man are they late this year! Only the one, and she was here and gone so fast it was more like a glimpse, but at least I have hope now. Stoopid little birds! A whole smorgasbord and they can't find it.
The hummers here empty the feeder every couple of days. I was glad to see them come back!

I've had as many as 11 feeders going here at one time, Cap. Boy, not this year! <sigh>
I suggested a second feeder because Napoleon guards this one and tries to chase everyone off. Hubby didn't go for it. He does enjoy watching the birds though.

Hey everyone! I am still alive. I started catching up but then I lost my place. Anyway DH is away in Port Douglas, Australia at the moment for work and I have two very sad kids here. Our DD is ok, just a bit grumpier than usual, but DS is very sad and not sleeping well. I am sleeping really terribly too. But DH is missing us like crazy too. Its just really annoying that flight times meant he's got to be there longer than the conference is actually on for. His boss, who is there as well, has been unwell today so hopefully DH stays healthy. He's back late Saturday night, has to work Sunday, but will be having Monday and Tuesday off.

Poor DS said to me tonight, "I'm very sad that Dad is gone. Is he coming back?" My heart just about broke.
It is good for them to be away from a parent for a bit. Seems we are raising kids these days that are not independent.

It is good to have you back!

I wonder if @Teila is still alive, haven't seen a post from her since she started the new job.

I made a joke like that and found out one or our faculty had an accident and nearly died!

I too wonder about Teila. Hopefully it is the new job.

Do you have a dollar store near you? They have feeders for well $1 ha and if you already have nectar or make your own, it wouldn't cost much more :P

Now you know what your "retirement job" will be. But they will have to pay.

I would not trust teeth straightening to mail order.

:wee
Sorry everyone is apart and sad, only a few more days.

That's true! But some of the things they sell look the same as the ones the dentist does

Hey @ronott1 I've got a few questions for you.... or anyone for that matter...
I've got a roo with bumblefoot who got in a fight with another roo through a fence. So, not only am I having to treat the bumblefoot there's also a partially torn off spur and a toenail down to a nub. I've soaked his feet in warm water with dettol (I don't know if you have that in the US... it's an antiseptic). Worked on the bumblefoot, coated everything in polysporin and wrapped his feet. I wrapped his spur towards his leg. Have I done the right steps? Anything else I should be doing?

I agree with Bruce. NEVER get braces from online. You could end up ruining your bite which could cause major problems down the line including needing restoration of your teeth and complications like TMJ or worse.

You can give him a shot of keflex to make sure bacteria does not take hold in the wound.

Usually chickens heal up well from wounds though. Keep it clean and bandaged. I use vetericyn wound spray here.
