I'm not saying that's what I would do, dd. I was mearly stating that, it's the myth many people have when they go out there....you wouldn't catch me "dead" out there.I think you have to work at a soda fountain or as a waiter to be noticed Sean.

X 3!!X2, no chance.
sounds like you should stay where you are, living 45 miles south of pgh. i hear the news every day and its always bad, murders, rape, etc. not anywhere i would want to move to, but then i'm old and even when young, never wanted to live in a city, i like small townsYeah, I didn't used to think I wanted to live in a city but now lately it seems kinda fun. Idk.
Well that's definitely scary. :/ I did some reading not too long ago that talked about the best neighborhoods and safe areas and stuff and from what I gathered reading and from asking a friend, there are some areas you absolutely avoid, don't go at night, etc. But idk if it's city wide or not. I will need to do some more digging and asking more friends. But I guess I just assumed that it was safer than some cities like Chicago and St. Louis. But idk.
And yeah, sometimes going into Boston I'm like, I could never live here, too noisy or crowded or whatever, but then some areas are really quiet and pretty and you barely even notice you're in a city so I'm hoping maybe Pittsburgh has some areas like that. But of course the biggest thing right now, being relatively young and into music, is being close enough to a city or even in one, to be able to go to shows. And of course a good music scene and not just like country or huge pop artists because I do go to mostly smaller bands/shows. I was just saying that's part of what I love about where we are right now is how central we are to everything. It's relatively quiet with nature and stuff but we have a ton of stores in every direction and we're only 40 mins to Boston, 1 hour to Cape Cod, 4 to NYC, 2 to Portland, 1 to Providence, etc. So I can go shopping or to eat or to shows in various cities and stuff. Which is nice. I mean, heck, we have 2 grocery stores and 2 gas stations minutes down the street. Which is nice. I suppose one important thing I may have overlooked though is going to some shows in Pittsburgh and seeing if I like the venues or the area they're in or whatever. I've heard good things about the shows and venues there but I think visiting them myself might be a good idea since that is one of the biggest reasons for moving.

Good morning all.
