The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Wow, those steps are going to be so much safer!

Definitely!! Her dad is like kind of a contractor/carpenter so he'll help with a lot of the repairs and stuff probably. They did those just this weekend, probably in a day. Went up Friday after dropping Libby off, got back last night. Definitely way safer lol they bought it kind of 50/50 with her parents. It's just a cabin but that's really all they need. I think it's mostly just kind of a weekend place and/or a place to stay when they go skiing and store their equipment so they don't have to drive as far and don't have to drive it all up every time. I'm not sure how much land it is but I think it was only $60,000. They did find out they have a bear living on their property though. I guess they have apple trees and they talked to the neighbor who said there is a bear that goes up the trees and raids them

Hopefully like our bear. It sees us and runs.

Yeah, FD, that’s what I was wondering too. Getting closer?

I’m doing okay. Kinda overdid it yesterday. We took Katie to Cody to get her some winter duds. Jenny still can’t drive, so Katie is walking to and from school, which in my mind seems like a good thing with her weight issues. But it’s getting doggone cold up here, especially in the mornings, and all she had was the jacket we bought her on the cruise and her sneakers. So she got a winter coat, boots, gloves, a hat, and a couple of long sleeved shirts. Sitting in the car for the 45 minute drive wasn’t very comfortable. I used the shopping cart as a “walker” so that wasn’t too bad, but it took forever to find correct sizes for Katie, and Ken had stuff he needed, so we were there far too long for me. Then it was 45 minutes back. We got home, Ken helped me put stuff away (if I let him do it on his own I’d never find it) and I hit the bed and the heating pad and stayed there.

I’m skipping the trip to Rock Springs Nov 1, but almost have to go to Green River, Torrington, Upton and Huelett the 5th through the 9th since I’m supposed to give my talk on The Blue Slipper at each of those. Frankly I’m half tempted to get my wheelchair out and use it if I need it, but I seem to be feeling a little stronger every day so it might not even be worth it to drag it out of the bowels of the garage and clean it up. I haven’t used it in 4 or 5 years. I hate that thing....it says “disabled” and I’m really not, so it feels like I’m saying, “Okay, Age and Aches and Pains, you win.”

Cap and Sean, sending careful hugs your ways.

Thanks for the update!

I hope the trip is ok for you. Traveling with back problems can be a Dicey thing

Thanks Blooie, I'm doing alot better, still a few jolts of pain here and there...glad to hear your doing better. Wish I could use a wheel chair (motorizied) but this house wasn't designed for it so crutches have to do.
Just take it easy stay in bed and heal up. The best thing for a body recovering is sleep. I understand you have to go on the trip...I have to do things here (must) or far worse things will happen.
Anyway, thinking of you everytime I have some pain! ;) your in my thoughts and prayers. Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Speaking of bears.....this just happened a few days ago. The bears were spotted nearer the town at one point, in fact less than 1/4 mile from the house Tammy and Evan were living in in Byron before they bought their new one. Tam shuddered and said, “When I think about Evan standing on the corner waiting for his bus all alone when it was still dark, it scares the _____ out of me!” Earlier in the summer they had to trap and move a mountain lion from Byron. Byron is about 6 miles from us, too.

Glad your doing better, Cap. I get a little better every day....just really slow this time around...it's harder to fight off the trauma to the muscles this time, their way much sorer than the last time. If I move before thinking how to move it sends a shockwave through my leg telling my brain, "hey dummie, that hurts"! Oh well, it will pass in time.
