The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Here's a couple of vids Bruce. The dancers are all performing the same steps but there is leeway in their presentation and style. 1st is competition between groups of dancers narrowing it down to one dancer from each group to go on to the next competition. Only one will be chosen to go to the final competition which will include the winner from each group. Like a dance off, for the recognition of champion dancer of the pow wow.
The second is a "chicken" dance. The dancers are interpreting the prairie chickens mating display dance. And their regalia is a representation of the prairie chicken.
You see alot better the dance steps that are required for the dance.

Love the chicken dance!

Well, we're trying to teach Todd the area we want him patrolling. He's not a big fan about the leash, but he's getting better every trip. I wanted to let him work tonight, but I'm not yet comfortable that he'll come when called and won't wander into the neighbors yard. Worse yet, he has a bad habit that we're stuck with... He's been allowed to chase cars. So in my simpleton mind, I'll just remove any moving vehicles from his access. So he has to come into the house before DW leaves for work. I also need to work with him in a controlled space getting him to come on command. His last owners didn't feel that "come", "sit", "lay down", and "down" were important commands. And, since the first time he saw a leash was with me, I'm sure "heel" was never even discussed.

All you dog people, I need your input.... I've never had an outdoor dog, or mostly out door... I got conflicting answers from his prior owners. One said she fed him on the back porch and the other said in the kitchen. I can tell from his temperament that sunrise = time to sleep. So, should I feed him inside, outside, or both? Sorry for being soooo clueless, but have always had indoor dogs with food available all the time. All but my first dog, which I barely remember the feed regimen, But she got fed morning and evening (I think, or Mom says).
I'm having a really hard time getting Bingo to come. My vet said that most LGDs don't respond to that command. They're busy doing their job.

I have an actual chicken question for you all...(shocking, I know )

I read where some give their chickens corn during the winter with the thought it makes the birds warmer. Is there any science/fact behind that? Our winters get so cold but the chickens seem to be doing ok. If it would make them more comfortable, I'd do it but is it true about corn or is that just folk lore?
I've heard that it's false. I feed mine whole corn every day though. Evidently it helps keep their legs a nice yellow.

No it does not work that way. Food is food LOL!

I do not ever give them corn. Wheat, barley and oats are better nutritionally but should be limited. Chicken feed is often less expensive or close to the same cost. Giving them chicken feed is the best choice

There are studies that show this but I do not have them at hand.
mine don't like oats anyway, scratch sometimes has oats in it here, they pick the corn out and i throw the oats away, ummm, could maybe save it and see if the wild deer like it

How old is he Bob? What did you name home?

Hi Michelle :frow

Anything new on getting your house in place?

We're going to go back to really start working on the Casper house in a couple days. It's been hard getting back there, the person we were counting on to take care of the animals seems to be cooling his jets in jail.
:barnie

He's 2 years and we let him keep his name: Todd.

I think you should find him a girlfriend named Lisa :lau (remember the old Saturday Nite Live shows?)
