The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Same in San Diego... Matter of fact we usually get a Flock of people from Mexico just to see the snow in the mountains.... And ALL of us lookie loos stop along the freeway just to grab some up to throw on an unsuspecting person in town.

80 from Sacramento to Reno has chain controls today. It would take me a bit over an hour to get there...I am not going there! Snow is not fun to me

I wish it would just get to my everyday background level, I can handle 4 and 5 pain level but when it just keeps hanging around 7 and 8, it's really starting to affect me in a bad way.
That level of pain can be very depressing.... In a physiological and psychological way...
huggs on that :hugs Hope it gets better as you heal more... But consider talking to someone..

I am some what similar.... I cant say I have walked in your shoes on this.... but I have been Thrown from horses over a hundred times... crushed vertebra messed up neck Bit kicked and fallen down with... Don't recommend getting bit by a horse... Trampled twice dragged once.... I learned early on Pain only hurts if you give in to it... But like you Take it to the next level and I am done in....

On Free clinic so getting pain meds is touch and go. But I am on Gabapenton for nerve pain from Diabetes... Yay helps me sleep No more twitching with pain stabs waking me up. Alieve and Tylenol cocktail works to bring the pain level down so I can function... but I have to go off the Alieve for a week at ta time ... makes me feel as If I have been punched in the stomach.... Worth it though.

I am working with a psychologist and psychiatrist... First one is for talking second is for meds... They have me on an anti Depressant as well as an Anxiety med... Together I feel almost normal... Not drugged in any way. All good. Talking is helping alot.

I am one who NEEDS laughter. Living with one who doesnt think I am funny at all and one who doesnt understand at all... When I talk to my psychologist we spend alot of time laughing.... LOVE it.

I managed to roll my ankle yesterday (hanging out washing off all things!) and I was sure I'd done some damage but walking on it was OK so I kind of just got on with it and made homemade pasta with the kids which was fun. It was only later that I realised it was a bit swollen in one spot.

I'll just take it slow today but with tomorrow's weather closing in (rain and strong wind) I'll have to make sure all my birds are fed and watered well. We are getting the remnants of what hit Sydney, dumping a months worth of rain on them in the space of 2 hours. It won't be that bad here, just windy and rainy.

My dove chicks are very cute but I already know which one we'll be keeping. The smaller one is so sweet and adorable and chilled out. The larger one is a little more nervous and anxious, initially doing the 'injured dove act' when I go to pat it or pick it up, but it soon calms down.

@N F C that giant sized cow made the news here. Its too big to send to the meat works so sounds like he'll live out his days on the farm. I couldn't believe it when they said how tall he is.

Holsteins make one of the largest Oxen out there... Usually a neutered male... steer but Cows can be used as well.

by definition Oxen are Cattle that have been trained for work in harness or yoke and are over four years old. They keep growing till they max out somewhere around that age but continue till they are seven or eight gaining muscle and bone weight.

Yep I know TMI... but I was researching them a few years ago. Was thinking about miniature cattle and using them as oxen....

A followup article said it was a steer.

Sean maybe a massage would help. Or some heat and ice to help with inflammation. Biofreeze is good for aches too and the smell dissipates quickly unlike bengay and stuff.

Are you going to PT?
Yep, just got back from PT, it's usually way after I get back and late at night when the pain starts to ramp up. One good thing is if it hurts to do anything they want me to do, I'm not forced to do it...they don't believe in the old saying, 'no pain, no gain'

I agree. It's frustrating, but pain can be a help in warning us to STOP. This is especially true for those with a high pain threshold.
X2, if it hurts really bad, I stop doing it....because somethings causing the pain but sometimes the threshold is met but the brain says everything's ok....takes awhile for the nerves and brain to come into agreement when you have a high tolerance.

I am at 9, bp 182/81 thanks to that.
Yep, some people's BP rises way high when in pain. I'm just the opposite, if anything my BP drops. As I've said before, some people that have been there when the bones broke, couldn't believe I wasn't screaming....learned along time ago, ( durning the death by catfish episode) that panicking, screaming doesn't help....just stay calm...stay level headed, because when you let fear and panic set in, it can lead to a loss of life. I don't start shaking until everything's over with and it sets in what just happened.
