The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I was worried about my fantail friend as one day I saw him with only one baby (I thought a rat may have gotten the other) and then I didn't see him at all for a couple of days. But yesterday:

I also went to the doctors last Thursday because I'd had a numb top lip, just on the right side of it. As there's no pain, no rash, no swelling or anything else to indicate an infection, the doctor just thinks it's the nerve playing up, probably due to stress. This whole house selling business has got us all stressed out at the moment, but we shall dig deep and keep going. He put me on a course of ibuprofen for a week but so far that hasn't done anything. My lip just feels fat (but it isn't) and weird which makes drinking and eating fun. It's like how your mouth feels coming around from being anaethetised at the dentist - fat and clumsy. The right side of my nose and some of my cheek feels numb too, but that's not noticeable unless I touch it.

But all my Christmas presents are wrapped (other than a couple that are still to be delivered). DH took the kids out so I could get that job done on the quiet.

It's very humid here at the moment. We had a huge thunderstorm one night, but I slept through most of it. I hope it isn't this humid on Christmas Eve or the kids will take even longer to get to sleep than usual and they'll be grumpy for Christmas Day. Poor DS last night ended up in tears because he was just so hot and so tired.

It could well be an allergy to food as in the latest newsletter I get from the raw pet food place we get our pets food from there is a story about a dog who was allergic to every type of dog food (even the vet prescribed one that no dog was supposed to be able to be allergic to) until they started him on raw. There's a photo of his skin and it's horrific. Poor puppy. Here's the link to the newsletter:

You'll have to scroll down until you find the story about Buddy.
oh, i know they don't know everything, thats kinda hard to do but he's pretty good. i think what bella has on her toes is a fungus, i gave her a bath day before yesterday with a shampoo from the vet and her swelling on the feet went down and looks like its starting to heal so tomorrow, she will get another bath , she is acting more like a happy dog today, wanting to play, her and buddy are chasing each other a little

Could it be the beginning of a cold sore? Hopefully not the beginnings of bells palsy

Debby, Not so much as a strand of tinsel in this house yet, and I usually go all out. It’s making me pretty sad. The Charlie Brown Tree is still sitting all alone in his box in the storage until, and I can feel Ma and the rest of the family shooting accusatory looks at me. The Village has no home here, and my Moosie Nativity Shopping scene hasn’t seen daylight since last December. Shopping is done, has been for a while, but nothing is wrapped. And it just feels almost too late to get it all out now.... I’ve been a little depressed about it. I think we have several days off....just a visitation next week but it’s only an overnighter, and a Christmas party at the Lodge in Lovell. Then nothing until the 29th. So there’s time - but somehow it all feels like an afterthought instead of a celebration. Christmas Eve is spent at Tammy’s, and we always have Pie Day here Christmas Day. So I dunno....I keep telling Ken I can’t shake the feeling that this is my last Christmas. No lectures, please.....I know, I know.

On that cheerful note, you are really getting to the bones of that house! Just be careful....no construction accidents, please! We were in Casper all day yesterday for a combined DeMolay/Job’s Daughter’s installation, but we got there a half hour before it kicked off and it went on until late. We wanted to crash in a hotel for the night, but there was no room at the inn for Fiona so she was home alone. Kids came over and took care of her, but they couldn’t stay here and we wouldn’t have asked. So we got home about midnight - it’s a four hour drive dodging deer and skunks. And I wasn’t sure you were even there because I hadn’t read back that far.

Cap, I’m just so sorry you’ve had such a hard time of it! I suppose you’ve tried saline nasal rinses before the infection....not supposed to do it with an active infection but I do one nightly and it sure helps me. Not for everyone, though, I get that. Is 5he lack of reflexes in that arm concerning the doctors? Between you and Sean you’re keeping us on our toes...or knees, as the case may be.

You said 'no lectures' so I won't. You have to be exhausted B, with all the travel and activities on top of what seems to me your usual busy days. Just take care of yourself as best you can :hugs

(And I hope you get the Charlie Brown tree out, the story behind it and the memories it evokes seems me to be one of the most heart-warming parts of Christmas.)

I'm fine. Sorry about the recurring sinus infection. Is it possible you've had so many antibiotics they aren't effective? DH got to that point when he was in the Navy and they gave him so much, they quit working.
Antibiotics seem to work on other issues but it takes 2 or 3 rxs to get rid of the sinus infection.

Glad to see the fantails are fine, such pretty pictures!

Hope you'll keep bugging the doctor until you get some answers (or the numbness goes away). Stress can do all sorts of things to a person and you've been dealing with the house situation for some time now.

You're farther along than me with the gift wrapping. Still have to do DH's. I'm not a good wrapper but the gift bags save me every year

To be fair, I've never seen grits on a menu. Not here in New England nor in So. Cal.

The first time I saw grits was at a restaurant breakfast buffet in SW Missouri. Maybe that's where the grit line starts

I thought the grits were cream of wheat, which I love, so got a bowl of them and poured maple syrup all over it. Sweetest grits I've ever eaten :gig

The doctor doesn't know the reflexes are absent, he didn't check. I will inform him on Tuesday at the Ortho appt.
I don't have a tree up yet, and i was hoping to get a tree in a pot but so far have not found one. I will be looking on Tuesday in Lynchburg.
