The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Bruce my response to that would have been :rant
Oh it WAS! This was for the house we used to live in and now rent out. Sat there all afternoon. I called our house about 5:30 to see if the delivery company had called to reschedule or something. DD1 said they had not called. A few minutes later she called back to say they called to see if the delivery went OK :rant She told the lady they hadn't showed up. The lady did some calling and called back to say they were 45 minutes out. Yeah I was not a happy pup.

Don't worry too much about doing the short order stuff at work Michelle, once you've done it a few times, you'll have it figured out. The main thing is to relax, getting nervous just makes it all harder.

I see lots of house progress since the last video! How tall are your ceilings in the house, they look really tall.

We're making progress but of course not as fast (or as inexpensively) as we would like. I thought DH was going to come unglued the other day when he talked to Home Depot about our kitchen appliance delivery. We knew they were coming on Friday but he needed just a general idea on what time (like morning or afternoon). They said if we paid an extra $40 they would give us a delivery time. WHAT?! The more business we do with that store, the less impressed we are with them.
Ugh. The other thing that stinks about Home Depot is that they will only deliver curbside. You have to get everything inside.

Our ceilings are 9' high. Love the higher ceilings, and they're not so high that heating will be outrageous. I've got ceiling fans for the living room and kitchen, which should help as well.

This house renovating stuff has been fun to see unfold.....from a distance and as long as it ain’t me! Between the three of you - FD, Debby and Jae - staying in this old trailer just as it is sounds better and better! We’ve never had Lowe’s or Home Depot deliver anything. We muscle whatever it is into the pickup and then wrestle it into the house. One of the advantages of having our son live here is that he has lots of strong friends! Shoot, I don’t even know if either place would deliver here from Billings, not that I’m in the market at the moment.

Kelsey, I swear if you don’t learn to break up your posts into manageable chunks I’m going to stop trying to read them. Long posts are no problem, I usually write them too. But one long, continual paragraph is hard to get through with these old eyes....they jump around on the page and I find I’ve read one sentence 10 times and skipped over 5 others in the process. “Idk” is not a period! :he

We had all the kids over yesterday for cake and ice cream to celebrate Ken’s and Kenny’s birthdays. I love having Kenny’s birthday so close after Christmas - simplifies gift giving tremendously! Long about the end of October Jenny starts sending me pictures, links, and ideas for Kenny. She changes her mind almost daily, and it drives me crazy! So I pin her down to one idea, buy that thing, and sure enough she changes her mind again. This year was no exception. I bought what she finally decided on, had it wrapped and ready to give. Then she tells me that he told her what he’d really like, and it wasn’t what we got! So we gave him the iPhone speakers anyway, then gave him the countertop Food Saver like mine that he really wanted for his birthday instead. Year after 23 long years.....never fails! But it always works out.

Katie got to use my big Pro series blender yesterday to make smoothies for everyone. You guys would get the biggest kick out of watching her with this stuff......there has never been a more tentative button pusher on the planet! She moves her finger close, pulls it back, looks at me, puts her finger back on the button, squeezes her eyes shut and gives one tentative tap. She was the same way the first time she used my Kitchenaid stand mixer, the food processor, and the Kuerig for hot chocolate. But she’s one determined little stinker, and always ends up getting it done in the end. After one success she’s ready to go again and never exhibits any hesitation from then on. Evan is more like his Grampa - “Hey, what does this button do?” And it’s pushed before you can tell him that it’s my Life Alert button! Typical boy!

And good morning, everyone!

Good morning B :frow

Sounds like Katie is getting to know the kitchen appliances pretty well! That's something that will always come in handy.

Your story about Kenny's b-day presents reminded me of when my 2 boys were little. For weeks before Christmas they'd been bugging me about Ghost Buster toys. So it took lots of trips to town and even one to Kansas City to find the GB stuff they had to have. Only to find out 3 days before Christmas, what they really wanted (now) were Batman toys. Guess it turned out well for them, they ended up with both GB and Batman stuff.

Happy belated birthday Kenny :woot

9' is a nice height, our's is 8'. Ceiling fans are really handy for moving the air around, nice you can have one in the kitchen too...that should keep the cooking heat to a manageable level (not that that would be a problem this time of year :D ).

Sorry @Blooie and @drumstick diva and everyone else that has troubles reading it, I will work on breaking it up. I think part of my problem and the reason why I don’t is I don’t mean to write so much but then I get on a tangent and it turns really long so it ends up being a big paragraph, train of thought or stream of consciousness or whatever. But I will work on both typing less and also on going back and editing it. I tend not to reread and edit online but I probably should. That is part of the idk thing too. I probably use that the lol, haha, etc. way too much, but I have for years, not sure why. Need to work on that too but just part of how I type I guess, idk. Oh wait, there it is again. Anyway, in essays and such, I don’t and can write way better but I tend not to online, not just here, anywhere, but I suppose writing properly is not just for school. I don’t know how well I will be able to reduce my use of the slang stuff but I will absolutely work harder on breaking my writing up into paragraphs and also editing. Going back to edit does take longer which is part of why I don’t do (plus I don’t think of it) but I have plenty of time so I really should start. Also, is this a good length or is this post too long too? I think it would be helpful if you could tell me about what length would be best. Like if this length is good or if not, which line should I have stopped at? I know paragraphs typically start/end at new ideas but general length I should be aiming for would be helpful. Thanks and sorry and I’ll try to work on it.
