The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thanks Sean! Hubby is going to rip into it today. Thats what he is thinking. I’ve noticed lately things have come out differently while baking.
I don't think the thermostat in our Bosch wall oven is very good. It will beep to tell us it is up to temp but the thermometer I have in there says it is 50° low. Then it will overshoot by 50°. I think the simple thermostat in the 1931 Glenwood is more accurate.

We’ll order that plus a burner as one went out a few years ago. Oven is 7 years old and we’ve replaced an element already. I hope that’s the problem
Sad but true that they don't make things to last anymore.

Would someone please tell this crazy howling wind to stop just long enough for me to do a couple things outside?
You live in Wyoming. We've seen the wind meter. It appears that there is no such thing as low wind there.

specialist will cost me around $1,500
For a root canal??? Is that a "usual and customary" price?

Well speaking of heavy clothes, I have to face the snow (still falling)- it takes about a half hour to suit up and of course by then. Have to use the bathroom again:he
Just like when you were 2 years old!

So people don't have to find the info I posted elsewhere:
We are looking at only about a foot but temps way down. -27°F windchill at 7 AM Monday.

Can't 'like' that

We have had our KitchenAid for probably about 20 years and it is still going strong. Probably does need to be replaced soon though as there is a small rust hole on the bottom of the oven and also it is starting to have some issues. For example, the display went out a couple months ago so it doesn’t display the time anymore when off BUT when it is on, it still displays everything, so idk. Also over the summer we did have an issue with it, showed the temperature/thermometer icon, and was having some issues, but it seems to have fixed itself. So very minor things but still very much functioning after 20 years. But it is pretty dirty/filthy and starting to have minor issues as mentioned so likely needs to go. It is a double oven and in the wall but we rarely ever use the bottom oven. Mostly just for storage now. We did use it some when we first got it and occasionally but very very rarely as we never really have people over anymore ha but they definitely don’t make stuff to last anymore. Probably stopped 10-20 years ago. This oven was probably one of the last made to last things. Kind of don’t want to replace it because it is so good.

Have a Panasonic Microwave from 1996. My mother refused to have one in the house but, as soon as she died, my brother bought it for my father. He was right in thinking it was safer for my father to use, than a stove. BUT,

Awful stench from him using it for his tv dinner., smokey kitchen. He must have hit the control so that it jumped from minutes to hour(s)? It melted the plastic tray and the contents were reduced to parched colors on the turn table.

It still works. (knock on wood)
