I wish I would have read up on it before I had to get my WY driver's license thought. That would have helped me understand all the hoops I had to jump through to get it.

@N F C maybe NJ already has this ? I know that in order to get a license it is necessary to provide most of this information, and licenses have photo ID.

I was trying to find a nice, neat little list and came across this instead:

Looks like NJ is one of the states that was granted an extension on the time frame to become compliant.

to me real ID is, they look at your ID photo and then you and say " Yep that's him."
Good enough for government work..

My biggest problem was a utility bill with the mailing address for here. I lived in VA for two years after I bought the place and had all my utility bills mailed to VA. I had to wait to get my license until I got the first set of bills here.

I'm having internet issues but the latest info on which states are compliant and which have been granted an extension to become compliant, look here:

Our mailing address was a hurdle for me too. We have to use a PO box (no mail delivery out here). And our utility bills are paid for by the company that owns our company housing. So no utility bills with a mailing address, no lease paper or mortgage papers. Plus, I changed my last name when DH and I got married.

It was a real pain to get sorted out. Took me several trips to the DMV.

DD I think on the new ones, they have NOT FOR FEDERAL ID written right on regular licenses so you can’t use them anymore
