The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I'll still be mowing mine. I really need to get a riding mower, but these hills scare me to death.

Princess wants me to get a riding mower, but when I get to the point that I can no longer do the job with a walk behind I will hire someone to do the job. Right now it's great exercise for me.

We’ve always had a riding mower but only because our yard is HUGE. It would probably take years to mow it otherwise :lau my dad does the mowing and my brothers used to when they lived at home too sometimes. I don’t but have once or twice. The hills terrify me too so I refuse. And we never had good earplugs/earmuffs until recently anyway and the dang thing is so loud. I do do plenty of other stuff though. But yeah, they usually go like sideways on the hills. Which you’re not supposed to do but it’s always been fine but I still worry about it. But the riding one is also great for picking up the leaves. We have a lot of those too. We used to bag/barrel them with the attachment thingy and dump them in the woods but lately my dad has taken to mulching them, riding over them a bunch and chopping them into tiny little pieces, and leaving in the yard. Supposed to be good for it. Idk.

I think you are supposed to go up and down the hills but he usually just goes sideways hah but the main one is kind of a bowl shape so I think it’s just easier and faster to go around the bowl a bunch rather than up and vertically.
That would be correct. Push mowers across the hill so if you lose it, the machine can't slide back and cut off your feet. Up/down hill on riders so they can't roll with you on them.

How steep are they? I have some hill on one section near the house that is steep enough the mower won't climb it. I use the string trimmer on it, it is a pretty small area. Other than that, up and down hills shouldn't be scary.

My son used to answer phones very nicely for me. When they asked to speak to his mother he'd say "just a minute." and hang up. Gotta love a kid like that. Times like that made me realize he "really" is my son.
DW, DD1 and DD2 all sound similar on the phone when they say hello ... and for awhile after that. In fact if my MIL calls and one of the DDs answer, they tell her who she is talking to or she'll go on talking thinking she is talking to DW. If someone hunting money/scamming gets DW and they ask to speak to her mother she says "I don't know, why don't you call her" and hang up.

Morning folks - just wanted to say that before I head for bed (from Thursday).
Maybe if you keep pushing bedtime further, you will eventually be going to bed at 9, 10 or 11 PM like normal people ;)

Hi Sharron. All excited about "Endgame" the Avengers movie," Disney plans an all out attack. Having the movie open in every theatre (what I've been told) and no other movies shown. Going for the title of highest grossing movie opening, in history. Should be with all the theater tampering etc. Sounds pretty unfair to me.
Hmm, seems like the theaters wouldn't agree to that. Now we need to know if it happened, the DDs tell me it opened last night.

This might be trouble.... LOL

:frow just working and BYC. Might try to start mowing the lawn, if it doesn't rain anymore.
Hubby’s going to mow a little tonight. He bought a new mower and is chomping at the bit to try it out.

When I mow I won’t even do the road ditches, I’m scared I’ll tip over!

I feel like I need to share this information with y'all; I was referred to this website by one of the members who was helping me work through the recent health problems my chickens are dealing with. I bought Valbazen at the lowest price I've seen, and they sent me catalogs with the order. They offer lots of poultry supplies: vaccines for Mareks, vND and fowl pox as well as wormers and permethrin dust really cheap. I'm sharing the link cause I'm real pleased with this place.
