Ready for a lighter note?? We had a barbecue at the kids’ tonight. After dinner the guys were watching some baking competition show (don’t ask) and Kendra suddenly stood up!!! She wasn’t holding on to anything - she just stood up. She balanced there fully upright for a few seconds then dropped to the floor. Then she did it a second time! Jen put her shoes on her real quick - she hasn’t been wearing them because of her toes and we thought she might be able to stand longer if she wasn’t in slippery socks. I grabbed my phone and we tried to catch her doing it again. She tried, but didn’t go as high or for as long. But who cares?

Awesome!

I know!!! It’s almost scary how much she’s suddenly trying to do. But the standing - oh my goodness, the standing!!! She’s trying so hard! I think if her legs and feet were straighter so she didn’t have to focus on positioning them, in addition to everything else it takes to accomplish what we think of as just the simple act of standing, she could do it. She’s so close.

And earlier in the evening when it was time to eat, she crawled over to her walker, got up in it, and casually walked to the table. Jen said she’d never done that before, either. Wow!

I can’t even tolerate the smell of any of it! <shudder> When I was 15 I went on a blind date with a “friend” and her fella. We thought it would be brilliant to park at the edge of a cornfield and get sloshed on a couple of bottles of Jack Daniels. I was always so desperate to fit in I’d fall for about anything. Boy, did I get sloshed! Next thing I know I was face up between corn rows, getting the stuffing beat out of me cause he wanted what I wasn’t giving up. I won. Still have the scar in my eyebrow, though. At least they took me home and dumped me out in my yard. I’ve never been so sick, bloodied, beaten and bruised in my life! My dad found me the next morning when he was leaving for work. I can’t handle the smell of hard stuff ever! :sick

We have a Masonic friend and his wife who live half the year in Scotland. There “cottage”, as she puts it in her adorable but thick brogue, is not too far from Campbelton and Glengyle Distillery. She told me in kilometers but . Anyway, just about a year before Ken was installed, Robert asked if I had a photo of Ken in his dress whites, and also asked for the photo we planned to use for Ken’s official portrait. While they were back in Scotland, he had this bottled for Ken and presented it to him as an installation as Grand Master gift. It even came in a special box. Neither of us drink it. Robert passed away this winter, so Ken’s thinking that he’ll take it with us to our Grand Lodge and break it open at the guys’ usual “Cordial night”, where spirits flow and spirits are high, and the guys will toast Robert with it. I like that idea.

I used to hate the smell and taste for whisky myself... But i had a taste of a good one and love it.

Thats actually a good price for twelve year single malt scotch....

Though my favorite is Jameson....
