The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Morning everyone! :frow

Well, the hot, muggy, sweaty weekend is over!!!! Got my AC fixed about an hour ago! YIPPEE!!!!:wee:celebrate:ya:woot $40.47 + my labor.

deb sorry to hear about your back pain...it too will get better, in time.

Hey Blooie I got a barely driven vehicle for sale, ;) only driven within the state! :lau

Hope everyone else had a pleasant weekend.:D

Yay for the AC... Back pain switch is turned off. Had a twinge just now but I told it to STOP THAT and it shut down.... of course I stopped doing what was causing the twinge.

Its so dry here the Swamp cooler is what I prefer.... Like the smell and feel of the air.

deb

Whether it's a swamp cooler or an a/c unit...thanks to the person that invented it! Summer would be the real pits without something to cool it down :)

Deb, glad a good talking to helped your back to knock it off (and not doing what was causing it too  )!

I just got a text from my sister. My nephew goes in for surgery on Wednesday. They did another scan this morning to make sure that the eye could not be saved. Unfortunately it can’t:(He called me this morning and thanked us for going to the ER with them. He sounded in pretty good spirits considering...He was grateful it was only one eye.

A good attitude will go miles toward helping him adjust. Keeping him & all of you in thoughts and prayers :hugs

Hope the surgery goes well, I'll be praying for him and you and the test of the family. :hugs
Thanks Sean! Sounds like 3 doctors said it couldn’t be saved, a 4th wanted to try. My brother in law blew up on him.
dyc, your nephew is quite the man!!!!
He is but I know he will go thru the anger/grief stage.

Thank you Debby, prayers much needed and wanted. My sister said if they can save the muscle it can be attached to the prosthetic eye and it will move with his good eye:flSounds like the afternoon is kind of tough. They are on their way home.

My grandpa had a false eye. He got his way back in the day before prosthetics so his didn't move but you still had to look closely to realize it was different. Grandpa lost his when he was a young guy riding on top of a hay wagon that went under some barb wire that had been strung up high. I'm sure it was an adjustment for him, but by the time I came around as a little kid, he just used to laugh about it (and try to scare us with it a couple of times :p ). Grandpa would do anything to make someone laugh!

Uffda! There’s a lady from town here that has a fake eye too. I didn’t know until someone told me. She lost hers to cancer.

It’s July. I love summers sitting out on my deck, watching the birds at the feeders. That’s what I’m doing now. In a long sleeved shirt. And a flannel over shirt. And my jacket. <sigh>

I’m so glad you got to talk to your nephew, DMC. Yep, he’s going be wracked with a rollercoaster of emotions as he adjusts to his new normal. There’s a kid who went to school with Jamie - JR Vezain - who was at the top of the Pro Rodeo Circuit until a year ago. JR graduated with a Jamie and is one of the nicest kids you’ll ever meet. With his red hair and freckles and slightly bow-legged gait, he is absolutely impossible not to like.....Cowley’s own Opie. He’s also getting used to a new normal. I know their situations are different, and that right now everyone in your family is still sorting things out. But this story was on the news recently, and your nephew’s crisis just emphasizes how quickly our lives can be totally altered, which imm3diately made me think of JR and his little family. I hope the link works....

What an incredible young man..."I guess the message I want to send to people is whenever you have a struggle or a trial that is out of your control, put it in God’s hand and find the little things to be thankful for.”

What a strong person, thank you for sharing his story B!

I’m just happy that the link worked! He is definitely a remarkable young man - guess I shouldn’t call him a kid. And the J.R. you saw in that video is the same JR that he’s always been - warm, with those twinkling eyes and that impish grin. He was just the same when he was a little guy riding his bike to school and riding sheep in the Cowley rodeos.
