The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yep, heat and an illness = not good. I remember last year right after breaking my hip, I was feeding my birds and had a sudden drop in my blood glucose, almost passed out in the heat, then started to throw up. :sick
Just stay inside till It cools off a bit...you don't need anymore health problems. :hugs
I have a guy bringing me a coop. Need to clear space for it. My plan is to do a bit at a time. So far, the chain link fence got moved, and 1/4 of the wood pile. Then I needed to come back in. There are not many places near the driveway that hubby would permit a coop. I think the guy should be able to back in on Guinea Lane and drop the coop off near the packing crate coop, if the rest of the wood gets moved. No one here but me to do it. He has not given me a time yet to show up, so I figure I can break up the work. It is over an hour away to his place and he needs to find a trailer to rent.

You'd never like our winters Sean. I have a closet full of winter wear for every possible factor, ice, snow, deep down below zero temps, high winds etc. I get a lot peppier in cold weather. Seniors kept better in the cold.

I know I couldn't survive your summers. Couldn't take off enough clothes to be cool in major hot spells, and if I did I'd get a horrible sunburn and skin damage.Plus rattle snakes and such.

They look kinda cool actually. It's too bad they're pests.

Black light works for scorpions as well. We get those little buggars that fold up flat and can slip between rocks... But they also can slip under Pillows... My son has fourn about four here in the city.... Dont know why they like his pillows....

We were talking to a park ranger shortly after we moved here. He said you might think you don't have scorpions, but you do. We never put our hands where we can't see without wearing gloves.

yep VEdge in the heat of the day.... AC or Swamp cooler.... Drink lots of water and have a Siesta... Morning and evening are work times.... Headlamp for outside..

I Free feed and water so no one goes without. I only go outside if i hear something unnusual.... Horse spotting a tress passer.... Goats spotting dawgs.... Of course the dogs are flat out on the linolium in the house.

This is me too, except the dogs are hogging the bed

BTW I've lived my entire life in basically one area so used to the weather. My sister did also but, after she moved to NM, she couldn't tolerate even minor cold temps. When they got some snow - none of the stores had shovels. She had to order online and pay shp.

Two things really scare me - ICE and lightning.

Where my son lives, PNW ,he says even a little snow shuts down things. Most of the folks don't know how to drive on it. The community also doesn't have snow plows / salt spreaders. He spent most of his life in our wintery climate. When he comes for the holidays - no problem.
