The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

went to visit grandma today first time since she went into the home.... Talked my son into going... She focused in on him and we all had a lovely talk. She was aware and cognizant of her surroundings just didnt remember who we were for a while. Same as before.

it went well we both were severly traumatized by her for months before we moved her to the facility. Even to the point where I wouldnt go out of the house for a few days.

So now shes in a care home for the elderly... specifically with emphasis on care for dimentia people. There were three of them watching Wheel of fortune and all were bundled up for the cold. LOL It was 100 degrees out and inside it was like a meat locker.

We got to meet Frankie the house cat... He likes to sleep on the backs of recliners and waive his tail over the heads of who ever is sitting. I call him Frankie the Hat Cat.
Hes gentle and sweet and likes to sit in laps too .... Funny thing is Grandma talkes to him and pets him and smiles at him... yet she has never really cared for cats before.

He was the cat of a previous resident.... There are two dogs and two cats that live there all guaranteed homes till they pass. This was the thing that convinced me this place was the right one....

Sounds like the visit went well Deb. I agree with you, any place that will open their doors to pets has to be a good place.

I think that would convince me too.

2-3 days a week and 9-5.
I'm with @igorsMistress, that is a job that would send me up a wall the first time a kid started shrieking.

I hope this seizure specialist is as good as Kendra’s neurologist claims!
Me too!!!! :fl And I hope they can calm things down.

We were at home, but another snafu at the hotel has sent us back over the mountain to Sheridan. <sigh>

but than again I never have walked softly!
No wonder you keep breaking your leg!

This was the thing that convinced me this place was the right one....
It is and I'm so glad your visit went well. Takes the stress off you.

Thanks IM, hope your day in the salt mines goes well too!

Best of luck with the new part time job DMC! I agree with IM, you're a brave soul. I enjoyed my own kids a lot...other peoples not so much (and sometimes the parents are worse then the kids). Hope it works out well for you!

Cute picture of Sunny Cap!
Thanks Debby! There’s a lot of different personalities to get used to. I’m not ready to run out the door yet but glad it will be no more then 3 days a week. I clean the next 2 and back there on Friday.
i'm going to him next month and will have a heart to heart with him, somethings just not right and i need to find out what if i can
Good deal!

There were 12 kids in my family growing up, you got used to shrieking. If I did it 5 days a week it would be too much. My orthodontist’s kids go there and the oldest was asking me when I was going to get the bracelets off my teeth....good chuckle. I think he’s 4.

:lol:I was there 2.5 weeks ago and he said come back in 2 months. I was thinking how can you get these teeth moving if I wait that long. They called the other day and said to come at a month. He has not given a specific time. I’ll have them a year at the end of August. I can’t wait to get these off.
