The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi Sharron , what is up for you today? :bun
well, went out early this morning, i picked beans and okra and radishes(they have quite the bite), pulled a few weeds, came in, washed everything and put it in the fridge, then went to pick up pills, bought chicken and pig food, also next door bought a pack of chicken thighs for dinner, went to a friends and took her three tomato plants, came home cooked the chicken , peas(southern) okra, salad , washed the dishes and now boring you to tears :lau:lau:gig
and what about you?

With a beautiful place like that to walk I would go every day!

We are definitely lucky to have beautiful places to walk! I definitely kind of take it for granted :hide

Our neighborhood is nice and safe to walk through and there’s also a man made pond in it to walk around with a nice gravel path and lawn and stuff and then there’s a path that leads to another pond too that you can do too. Didn’t do the ponds because it was right around mosquito hours but that’s really pretty too. And the back pond is more remote/wild and pretty marshy too and there’s a marsh/wide open area on the other side of the trail so lots of wildlife there too.

Then of course there’s the loop I did yesterday which is just along the road but a nice walk. If I leave from my house (which I didn’t, parked in a parking lot along the way) I think it’s right around 2 miles or just under. Maybe a mile and a half. You have to go through the neighborhood a bit to get to the road so it adds a bit of distance.

And also that field that I took the picture of you can walk through too. I didn’t because of, again, mosquitoes, and also ticks, wasn’t really dressed for it, but that is gorgeous too and it’s a big huge field and partially wooded in the back/left side, and you can walk all the way around it or cut through it or whatever. And at the very back of the field there is a little beach. Which is fun to go to.

Not really the best for swimming or whatever I don’t think, mostly marsh mud in the water so you’d probably get stuck haha but it’s great for dogs!! A ton of people take their dogs to this field actually. Usually off leash but you can keep them on leash too.

It’s very popular because it’s a nice walk, not too long, and they can run around in the field and/or play and swim at the beach and get all tired out haha and usually there’s plenty of other dogs to play with.

We also have cranberry bogs across the street I can walk around too. And there is also a shorter loop from the house that’s only about a mile but it’s not as pretty and goes along a busy stretch of road for part of it so I don’t like going that way usually.

But yeah, we have tons of places to walk just from our house. I don’t even have to drive anywhere. I can literally just walk out the door and go. It’s awesome. But I don’t take advantage of it nearly enough.

And also my brother’s neighborhood is a really nice neighborhood to walk too but I never really go there unless I’m walking their dogs. But also a town landing/boat ramp that is really pretty. You can see the harbor/bay and the river and stuff. And their house is right on the river. It’s about 2 miles from us too so I could walk but never do.

And all of that is just the stuff within walking distance.

We also have a town forest less than 10 minutes away with tons of trails to walk through and a pond and cranberry bogs and stuff too. And a state forest maybe 20 minutes away. But that is a lot more desolate and also ugly so I don’t really ever walk there haha can’t really go alone. It’s very remote and large and all pine barrens so pretty dangerous. There’s been a couple murders there I think. Nice to camp sometimes though, there’s some ponds, and nice bike trails and stuff, and a boy scout camp in there, a couple maybe actually, and few campgrounds, but the rest of the place is very isolated. Not safe to go alone probably especially as a woman haha not to get all negative. :lau

But there are plenty of gorgeous places right out my door. Those pictures aren’t even the prettiest places.

Oh and also we have a beach in our town that I can walk along too or sit on or whatever but I usually hate beaches and sand haha can also go to Plymouth and walk downtown right on the waterfront/harbor which is gorgeous too. And we’re only a few hours from NH and the White Mountains and plenty of hiking. And of course lots of kayaking potential too. Although with all the sharks around lately, I wouldn’t feel safe unless I was in a pond lol

But yeah.

I DEFINITELY need to walk more. No reason not to with all the gorgeous, safe places we have right outside my door. Just usually kinda lazy I guess. :hide

Also everything is SUPER green right now cause of the two days of pouring, tropical rain/lightning we just had the other day but still gorgeous even without that. This summer has been pretty mild and wet so far so everything is still flourishing and green.

We keep getting calls offering to assist us with paying off our school loans. I should probably call back the number they left and mess with them some. I wonder if the people making those calls are aware they are a scam or if they think they have an honest job working for someone.

I'm ok, my feet are sore but I hope that goes away the more I'm on my feet. I just got back from town, bought some new shoes, went by by the mill an ordered more feed, went by the doc's office and paid my final bill. :ya
Moved about 20 birds to the outside brooders....stupid birds are bloodying their beaks against the HC....:he <sigh> always something...this is the first time this has ever happened, so don't really know what I can do, other than put padding on the wire. :idunno :lau
:wee

I'm going to give you all a "heads up" in case this situation should arise...

Yesterday there was a message left on my phone. A very "official" sounding person saying they were trying to reach my youngest son to notify him official legal notices requiring his signature would be delivered to his house or place of employment Thursday afternoon.

I got a hold of my oldest son to find out what was going on. Apparently there's a new (to us anyway) scam in town. Something along the lines of "you're being sued but if you pay us $1000 we'll make it go away before you have to go to court".

When this first happened, youngest son said "so sue me" and went to court. That's small claims court in Kansas. Of course those people never showed up and he was told there was no case and it was a scam to get money from innocent people.

How these fraudsters ever got my phone number is beyond me. Our last names are no longer the same and my phone number has changed about 3x in the past 9 years. But it sure raised this mom's worry level several notches.

They just called again this morning...2 calls, 1 minute apart. I've blocked the number now.

Anyway, just be aware in case something similar happens to you (or as in my case, to a family member).
thanks for the warning debbie. i never answer the phone unless i know the number and they never leave a message:lau
