The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

THAT’S what it reminds me of, too! Thanks! I knew there was this nagging little recognition thingie going on in the back of my mind but I couldn’t come up with a name! Thanks!

Around here it’s grasshoppers! Without 22 chickens on patrol they’ve gotten way out of hand. Every step kicks up a hoard of them! Fee even brings them in the house on her back! Have a super time with your sister. How I long for Linda’s company!

Slow day planned. Evan’s bed broke (finally) so we have a spare bed frame and twin box spring out in the storage unit and we’ll get that over to Tam this morning. He had an old platform bed with a new mattress on it, but a Katie kinda sorta broke the platform the rest of the way when she spent the night at Tam’s. That girl is too heavy to plop onto a bed that is already not in good shape. Evan will be home Saturday so we’d better hustle!

When we get back from that, then we’ll start loading stuff up for Grand Lodge and head over the mountain to Sheridan. I have 7 huge totes, 9 cases of water, painting supplies, my Blue Slipper table decorations, Ken’s seafaring decorations, and the goodies to fill the hospitality bags to store until the 11th, plus various other little things to add. Friend of Ken’s offered to put everything in his garage except the stuff that has chocolate in it. Those he’ll store in a spare bedroom. Tomorrow is a trip to Billings and Costco for last minute things we ran out of.....we ran a little short on chips and Trail mix snacks to put in the bags, and need a couple more cases of water. We have the Cornerstone ceremonies in Basin on Saturday. Basin has built two new schools on the same lot, and each one will have its own Cornerstone so it’s a double ceremony. That’s our last Cornerstone for the year.

Phone has already started ringing with people calling to congratulate Ken. It’s only 7:45 and he’s received 4 calls! Boy, if they drive by and Fiona is out for her morning patrol I guess they figure, “We’ll, they must be up” and call on their way to work. One of the men who called said he didn’t realize Ken was a Mason (where the heck has HE been buried?) and asked for a petition to join. Neighbor Vickie....ah, yes, THE Vickie....has had her curiosity satisfied by now. Every time we’d pack stuff out to the car she’d suddenly be putzing around outside, watching and wondering but too stubborn to ask. Gee, Vickie. Just ask. Ken would have told you, since you speak to him but haven’t spoken to me in what? 5 years?

Anyway, it’s almost over, then you all don’t have to listen to anymore of it! We’ll still have places to go. York Rite has its version of a Grand Lodge, called Sessions, in early September, and then the end of September we’re going to Idaho’s Grand Lodge. The end of January we’ll go to Utah’s, then Nebraska’s in February. We’ll go to Arizona’s in early June, and South Dakota’s is the end of June, but we always do that one since we’re there visiting family anyway. Also in January is the Grand Master’s Winter Reunion down in Riverton. But now WE pick and choose which events we go to, and we don’t have to hit every Lodge in the state for visitations. The only reason for the out of state Grand Lodges now is that these people have been our counterparts all 7 years of this journey, so we’d like to support them as they are either installed for their year or they are the outgoing for the year (like we are) the way they’ve supported us. So it’s our choice, not mandatory. That feels kinda nice!

The other thing that is amazing is having all of you along as we traveled. I can’t tell you how much it meant to know that I had you by my side, and in my corner, through all of this, just a click or a tap away. I love you all!

Ken’s dressed. It’s gonna be in the upper 90s today so we wanna get that bed loaded and over to Tam’s while it’s cool, and then get this other stuff loaded up and over the mountain. Catch ya later!
:thumbsup
