I've heard broody behavior can be "contagious"...you better tell those girls of yours only 1 broody at a time is allowed!

Hmmm... good idea! I don’t want the other girls getting any ideas!!

The Orpington I think had been considering it for a while because she’s been sometimes sleeping in the nest boxes lately, along with the Australorp, but then during the day she is less sure. Meanwhile, the Australorp has apparently finally decided that she is serious after all and stays put.

Gonna let one hatch. Just don’t know which one yet. Originally was gonna let the Australorp but that was before I knew the Orpington was broody too.

Gonna pick up some fake eggs today and test them. And maybe move one to the middle box and keep them both in the far boxes so they don’t intimidate the other girls right now they’re both in the favorite boxes plus of course the Australorp being in the first one so the other girls have to walk by her to lay.... sometimes they just decide not to lay cause they’re so intimidated.

Long day yesterday Bob, no time to chatThis new job is taking up all my extra time.

I had 3 broody as of last week, I’m down to two. One is bad enough!

Sounds like you’re keeping busy! Do you at least like the work?

And that’s a lot of broodies! I usually only have one at a time. But it seems now that the girls are getting older, they all want to be moms.

Hmmm Has @sourland been waiving his broody wand around here?
