The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning everyone!

DMC, sorry you can't get to the estate sale today. Do you have anyone that could go for you to bid on things you're interested in?

Bob, hope you have a good day at work.

Sharron, glad you found the garden culprit!

I don't have to work today because of the annual high school track meet. Not going to be sorry to miss that crazy event! Son and I are going to run errands in town so when Tuesday rolls around we can get up and go.
Glad you got the day off. I wish I had. The sewer is not working so we shouldn’t have been open. We ended up using the church bathrooms across the street. Nightmare! We are closed Monday cuz they can’t figure out the problem. I went to the estate sale on my half hour dinner break. Everything I wanted was sold. One of the boys asked me if any of the sold stuff was mine as he knows what I like. The only thing left I wanted was the house. It will be interesting to see who ends up getting the place. I didn’t buy anything. He had a lot of stuff.
That was so nice of you to say Bob. I'm a lucky person to have a kid like him (not such a kid now, but always to me).

We spent a lot of time last night looking over his latest paintings. He's a watercolorist and every time I see them, he just keeps getting better! I'll try to get some photos later of a few to share. He even painted a couple of small ones for me of....chickens of course!
Can’t wait to see them.
probably and also for a arm and leg, i could never understand just collecting for it being a antique, i have a few but only because they were my momma's or husbands momma, and those i use at times, . is that what you wanted, antiques?
I like the old dressers. I don’t buy cuz it might be worth something, I buy cuz I like it. He had an old bookshelf with glass and was asking $500. I like it but not for that price.
Lol... nope but I think they are imported from the US.
It's never made sense to me that local products are exported and what's available to us is imported.

The county I live in has declared an agricultural disaster this year. We've had so much rain that everything grew really big but isn't producing anything. Hay is usually cut in July, but a lot of farmers are just now cutting. Baling is proving to be a problem because moisture levels are too high. Almost half of my property didn't get cut because it's still in standing water.
You sound like us!

DMC, a day care center and non-working bathrooms aren't a good mix! Hope someone figures out the problem soon (and in the meantime, glad you'll get Monday off).

Sorry you missed on anything you were interested in at the estate sale. I've been to a few of those where things were auctioned off, sometimes you can get stuff for a good price and sometimes the prices get crazy.

no, haven't even tried but was raised that unless we were going to eat it, or it was poisonous don't kill it and i'm sure not going to eat it and i love animals
Oh, I've never TRIED to break through into a groundhog tunnel, they have collapsed under my foot. Nearly broke an ankle once. People lose cattle and horses to broken legs when they break through a tunnel in a field. If the little suckers would just make a nice den instead of hundreds of feet of tunnel I wouldn't mind them. MOSTLY they seem to like broadleaf weeds though I did have one tunnel into the garden and start chomping.

bruce, what else do they destroy? i know nothing about them really, we don't have them in florida, just coons and possums and squirrels
Stone foundations for one thing. They will happily dig out rocks that are in their way. Powerful little buggers they are.

I just saw on CNN that someone paid $5,000 at auction for a pair of Eva Braun's underwear. I get that there are a lot of people that collect WWII artifacts, but seriously? Underwear?!
Things have value to some people and if they are "one of a kind" figure someone else will pay even more to buy it from them in the future. Can't imagine why for lots of them. I'm all for buying things that are functional, well made (yep, often they DON'T make them like they used to), interesting designs. I've never "collected" anything for its potential future value to someone else.

It was awful today and so stinking hot on top of it. I wasn’t the only one frazzled.
I clean for someone that has a couple old dressers I’d like. They are upstairs and haven’t been used in years...hoping to talk him out of them:lol:

yes, i know they dig tunnels in the fields, husband and son have killed them to keep them out of our pasture,we used to have horses ,cows, sheep and even a couple of milk goats once and husband has filled the one bad tunnel opening up with big gravcl (also in the tractor path) so altho i hate killing anything, i know it has to be done at times
