The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I just put on my LLBean fleece lined flannel shirt with hood. That's my "go to" look for cold weather or when I'm trying to lower the heating bill.

:frow
i didn't turn the heat on cause its going to get warmer in the afternoon and i wanted to bake a rabbit so i didn't want it to get to warm in here:D

Good morning all. :frow. Let's see, not much of a garden area for me, I had some yellow squash/crook neck. It's done. But those tomatoes! Best year I've had in a long time. Nice size too. I still have green ones that could turn before a freeze. We are getting close too.. they're saying 33 degrees come Monday night. Well, feeling bored already this morning. I want to ..do.. something today..away from home. But what? What to do, to do...?? :p

we usually don't eat that many potatoes so we don't grow them but gd does on white potatoes
last year i had one sweet potato that we brought back from defuniak with us, it started growing vines so i cut them off, all three of them lol and husband made a long hill and we planted them. come fall right before we got ready to go to defuniak again, took most of them to the auction and sold them, the lady who bought them became a friend and wanted us to plant more so she bought us a whole bunch of slips and these are the ones we harvested this year, friend disappeared so now i have these sweet potatoes, all different kinds, oranges reds yellows and a really dark one that almost looks black
we had to eat one of the bigger orange ones cause it was starting to go bad, must admit, quite tasty and thats how i got started in potatoes
i think i will try those scarlet nantes next year, thanks
husband like broccoli, and the slaw

Ah that's right, slips. I'd forgotten that thank you!

We don't eat many potatoes either but I'd like to try growing some for hubs just to see if I can do it.

:) gotta get busy, have a great day Sharron!

Don't let those green ones go to waste. Wrap them in newspaper and put them under your bed .They'll ripen. I gave several bushels of green tomatoes to a friend who did that. She served up the last of them on Christmas day.

Why can't you grow them? I checked, they will grow zones 2-11, that covers a LOT of the USA except maybe parts of Hawaii. I also found out that butter beans are the same thing as Lima beans.
oh, i can grow them here, it was just my mil's garden at first, and i didn't have the space with all her things and then for a few years, i just planted the things i had to have but now i can go back and plant my southern things, butterbeans are lima's yes but still different most of the bb's when you cook them turn kinda brown and some are speckled, don't ever remember eating a green butterbean
