The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Totally off topic of raccoon stew, sushi and seafood...

How long would you guys expect your doctor to take to call you with lab and x-ray results?

I've been waiting 3+ weeks and no word on how the tests came out. I've called 3 times and only ever get the receptionist.

Am I being unreasonable or is this a long time?
debby that more than enough time to be patient now its time to make a pest of yourself and call every few hours til he calls you back

With respect to parasites and Sushi.

All Sushi meat is required by law to be frozen down to the level that it kills parasites.
That being said Not all Sushi restaurants Pay a premium for Sushi grade fish.

Also the reason I don't eat Tuna is because its got the highest rep for contamination.

Any red meat fish is suspect. I go to a well established Sushi place With a Trained Sushi chef... I have seen the packages he opens from his supplier. Most excellent sources.

I eat:
Pickled Mackerel not fresh
Smoked Salmon
Yellow Tail... In the mackerel family
Uni... Sea Urchin gonads... Sea Urchin eats kelp
Eel... Cooked before topping the rice
Soft shell crab... either in a spider roll or in a hand roll Cooked

Nigiri is the style of sushi... rice in the bottom seaweed around that and topped with what ever needs containment
Masago Nigiri....

Salmon Nigiri...

Tobiko Nigiri...

I prefer the red or natural because it comes in Green Black and orange... The Black is died in Soy sauce... too salty, the green is died in Wasabi... too hot Oh and its flying fish Roe... All the fish is used in sushi so No waste.
Uni Nigiri....

Oyster shooters... Oysters are cleaned and chopped Topped with Home made sauce for oysters. Which includes Ponzu (soy sauce with lime) and a splash of Sake... Then a dash of tobasco and its stirred in the shot glass. Topped with minced ginger minced scallion and a little pile of Masago (Capelin fish roe)

Other things I get in my fav restaurant:
Fried Calimari
Grilled Yellow tail collar
Tuna Steak.... cooked tuna with a Garlic pepper sauce drizzeled all over it. Tastes like a very mild steak. Dont get it often

Oh and When I tried to order Tobiko I forgot my sushi guy was Thai not Japanese... He said Yes I have some... I eat for my lunch.. he spoke to a waitress and off she went.

Pretty soon a plate was handed over to him... In that plate were fish about two to three inches long with heads on and deep fried... My son and I joked later about having fishFries at the sushi place

Rather than turn my nose up I said Oh thank you and proceeded to dip the fish in the sauce and eat the head first... Figuring I would never order them again. My goodness they were nutty and non fishy even down to the innards... Yep not cleaned. My son loved them as well.

So cooked and Tasty and SOOO not what I expected.

Sadly my Sushi place is gone... I think they retired while I was doing surgeries. There is another that is good quality but not the same atmosphere. There are four Sushi places here in this little town.

took me years to get mine used to me would hate to train another one but the people in his office always go and him my question and see if i have to go in to see him
raise heck til they get the idea

I'm feeling sorry for the receptionist, a nice older lady. She's at the point where she's flustered and just starts stuttering when I call. (I'm always polite to her, it's not her fault at all.)
