at the bill. OY!!I think that sometimes too but they were a lot tougher breed back then.I would like to live for a little while in the 1800's!![]()
My other side of the family settled in Brenham, Texas in the early 1800's. Had a huge cotton plantation, cotton gin and warehouse, and had a hardware store to boot. After the War, they move to Ballinger, Texas. Dadgum carpet baggers and Federal troops made sure he didn't continue on as before the war.
Became a well known carpenter in the area. Built a rock house as everyone use to like to call it....it was dug out of the high side of the Colorado River!use to visit them when I was really young, loved going fishing on that river just below the house. Had a huge overhang, they called "flat rock". You could drive a car out on it, it was huge. Was my first experince at catching a gar, thought I had a prehistoric fish!

That's amazing. He must have used full sized trees! Reminds me of those old barns. The troops didn't want him to continue running the cotton factory and the hardware store? My DIL is from Texas. She says that's not true.![]()

I baked 6 dozen cutout cookies and 3 dozen molasses. I have to do 18 dozen cookies for our Parade of Lights Friday night. I wanted to do a trial run on the molasses as I’ve never made them.
