That really "clucks" Sean. Will you ever get to retire?

Why did you move there again?
I hope your leg gets better regardless, but I know getting out of that kitchen was a great thing for you. You don't have to go out on the course working the clubhouse right? Do you serve mixed drinks and all that, or just beer?
Why did you move there again?![]()
sounds like a cool fun project!!! I can dig a three ft ditch with a hand shovel if my back will hold up. How many acres do you have? When i have the electical work done I will ask if they could hook up my land line. It runs through a conduit alll the way to the power pole Down by the well Which is a thousand feet.
With my inheritance I am hoping to get those basic repairs done.
That and getting my driveway graded.... In the process I will have water lines run out to the horse Paddock passing by the Poultry house project. Those same trenches will have Power and phone so I can answer the phone any where... Puttering in the coop or horse corral. I will have outlets to serve both and put in the phones later.
Still will have to do Satellite internet. I dont even think Dial up is an option.
Like I have said before Moving up will be an adventure. it will take me time before I have Phones and the power stabilized... And for me to contact people in the trades. Cell access can be made from about Three quarters of a mile from the house Line of sight to the freeway. I have phone access at the power pole too.
I could hook up a portable phone base in the pump house Then bring a portable phone with me in the truck. Those only have a broad cast distance of about four to five hundred feet... Unless I got missed by Technology passing me up.
So Research to be done connections made pone numbers to be collected for the work I need done up there. I am ok with Contracting it myself... You get a deal if you contract for cash... But there is a risk so you have to be careful who you choose.

sounds like you have made some good progress!. What's the formula? My main concern is falling. I fall well Learned when I rode horses... Its a body memory.. If I fall where I cant get hold of something like a chair I cant get back up. At this point I am barely able to stand up from a chair I have sat in for a couple of hours.
No cell service and no land line... So those life alert pendants wont work there. I need to work on my ability to get up off the floor just in case. I could do it when I was 378 LBs. but my center of gravity has changed and my balance is off.
Like Sour said... All sorts of things are changing.

love your xMas avatar... and good mornigGood morning IM and all.
Forgot to answer that part...we moved here for DH's job. He was burned out working golf courses in FL. Those are 365 days a year jobs, dealing with everything from alligators to humidity. But he wants to stay in course management until he can't do it any more, so he always has his eye out for other places.
I have about ninteen... All Decomposed granite with HUGE Buss sized Granite boulders hiding underneath. LOL Thats how I wound up with a heliocopter pad rather than a horse arena.....sounds like a cool fun project!!! I can dig a three ft ditch with a hand shovel if my back will hold up. How many acres do you have?
I can understand wanting a change, it can be a good thing. Not wrestling alligators is definitely a plus!
I wish Igor was more adventurous but he hates change of any kind. I moved to AZ with the kids and left him in CA to figure out if he was going to join us or not.
